Spring is on its way! This forthcom-ing season is one of my favorite seasons as we see the earth literally come alive from the dead of winter. The flowering trees, daffodils, and other spring annuals praise their Creator as the blast of winter dies away, and the temperatures warm up. This awakening reminds me of the need for our nation to experience a spiritual awakening! Some may ask, what is a spiritual awakening?

Spiritual awakening occurs when large numbers of people (or high percent-age of people in an area) experience this new birth to spiritual life in a short period of time. Spiritual awakenings are not just times of mass decisions for Christ. In a spiritual awakening peoples lives are changed radically. Major social reforms often have accompanied spiritual awaken-ing. When people put off the old life of sin and put on the new life in Christ, things are different! 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Here are some examples of things that take place during a spiritual awakening:

Bars and taverns close for lack of business

Police and law enforcement person-nel face a drop in work due to decreases in crime.

Businesses receive money and merchandise from thieves, employees and shoplifters who are seeking to return stolen goods.

Christians and churches begin seri-ous efforts at helping the poor and needy and strive to fulfill the Great Commis-sion.

Laws change or are enacted to protect the oppressed and to uphold justice.

Reconciliation takes place between races and ethnic groups.

Foul language is replaced by civil and wholesome talk.

Evil practices cease and often are outlawed.

Private and public acts of immorality decrease dramatically.

Marriages are restored, and family life is strengthened.

Prior to Jesus coming to this earth in the form of man, Israel had declined to a low point in her history. For over four hundred years, Gods people had not heard a word from the Lord through His prophets. A Pharisaical, legalistic religion plagued the land without having a person-al relationship with Jesus Christ. Temple worship was empty and vain. Gods people desperately needed revival. And then came John the Baptist, preaching a message of repentance. Many responded and the birth of an awakening began. The ministry of Jesus Christ ensued and shortly after His death, burial and resur-rection, the birth of the church took place (Acts 2). The people in the early church were filled with awe as they observed the miraculous way God was working. Their lives were radically changed! They lived unselfishly with glad and sincere hearts. They praised God and enjoyed the favor of all people. Their God-like love for one another attracted the lost people of Jerusalem and the spiritual awakening continued. Has such an event ever took place in the world?

In the fall of 1904, a revival broke out in Wales. During the next six months, one hundred thousand people were saved in a great spiritual awaken-ing. No one organized the campaign. Simply put, the Spirit of Almighty God fell upon that area and their country was transformed. The above mentioned components took place. You cant help but wonder, how did it begin. God used a man by the name of Evan Roberts, who worked in the coal mines of Wales, that

had a burden for his country. Evan began to pray for revival. For thirteen years he prayed for an outpouring of Gods Spirit to fall upon Wales. He began prayer meetings that turned into mass evangelistic meetings. Following a Monday night prayer meeting on October 31, 1904, seventeen young people stayed to hear Evans message which had four points: 1. You must put away any unconfessed sin. 2. You must put away any doubtful habit. 3. You must obey the Spirit promptly. 4. You must confess Christ pub-licly. That night those seventeen responded to his appeal. The crowds increased nightly. Seventy thousand in two months eighty-five thousand in five months, and over one hundred thousand in six months following the October meeting!

Our nation is in desperate need of such an awakening. Will you join me in praying for a spiritual awakening to fall upon our community, and ask the Lord God to do wonders here as He did in Wales back in 1904. We arent beyond hope. With God all things are possible Luke 1:37. As you witness the season of spring, be reminded to pray for a spiritual awakening!

1) A recent study out of the medical journal Spine found sufferers of lower back pain all received standard medical care (SMC) and half of the participants additionally received chiropractic care. The researchers found that in SMC plus chiropractic care pa-tients, 73% reported that their pain was completely gone or much better after treatment compared to just 17% of the SMC group.

2) In his Huffines Presentation in 2013, Dr. Bob Sallis stated that exercise is a wonder drug. If it was listed in the Physicians Desk Reference (the largest compendium of drugs), it would be the most powerful drug currently available. And it would be malprac-tice not to prescribe it. These are powerful words that make a lot of sense.

So why has the medical community neglected this information? Partly because its easier to prescribe a pill or surgery. We are a prescription nation. According to researchers at the Mayo Clinic and Olmsted Medical Center, almost 70 percent of Americans take at least one prescription drug costing us $374 billion in 2014.
