Zeus
Why do all the emergencies with our pets happen over the weekend? It does seem to be true. That’s how it was when one of our Cause 4 Paws members went to the emergency room with her pet on a Sunday afternoon. While in the waiting room she encountered the owner of Zeus in a tough situation.
Zeus is a beautiful young Snowshoe Siamese. He went out that morning, which was part of his usual routine. When he came home from his outdoor adventure he had a badly broken leg. We are unsure of the details of his accident. Now his owner was faced with a big decision!
We continue to tell cat owners of the danger of outdoor escapades. We can only warn and hope people will listen. There are many, many things that can happen to a cat outside and most of them are really bad.
Zeus was surrendered to Cause 4 Paws that Sunday and two members rushed him to Greenbriar Emergency in Charlottesville for pain management and transfer to Virginia Veterinary Specialists on Monday morning. Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Kevin Stiffler “creatively” repaired his leg using 3 plates, a rod and 19 screws. The doctor felt the repair went well. We are hopeful he will have a full recovery and a full life (indoors).
We appreciate any help you can give Cause 4 Paws to pay for this specialized surgery. The bill for the surgery alone was $3075.
Of course our decision was to save the leg!

Happy Tails
Hi! My name is Henry and this is my Cause 4 Paws cat “Chiller” (formerly Boone). My Grandma adopted him last March to keep her other cat, James, company. James came to
live with Grandma about 3 years ago and he was from Cause 4 Paws too! We like to play and sometimes we go for a walk because he has a special cat backpack so we
can be together even when I go outside. Thank you Cause 4 Paws for my Special friend!
We adopted Oreo (previously Phoebe) & Bandit (previously Addie) from Cause 4 Paws. They live with their other kitty sister, Zoey (she was a feral we raised since she was a kitten) and their 2 dog sisters, Sami & Lexi (also both rescues). We’re a great big blended rescue family.
This is Bandit’s favorite way to lay. She thinks she is a dog. She just plops down, rolls on her back
and makes you either step over or walk around her. Bandit loves to cuddle too!.

A Cat's Prayer at Christmas
Although I am too proud to beg, And may appear to be a very independent creature, I ask for your loving care and attention.
I rely on you for my wellbeing much more than you may realize. This I promise you, my benefactor, that I will not be a burden on you Nor will I demand more of you than you care to give.
I will be a quiet peaceful island of serenity for you to gaze upon; A soft soothing body to caress, And I shall purr with pleasure to rest your weary ears. Since I am a gourmet who appreciates different taste sensations,
I pray you will give me a variety of nutritious foods and fresh water daily. You know dear friend, how I love to go.
Allow me, I pray, a warm sheltered place Where I can rest peacefully and feel secure. If I am wounded in battle or suffering from disease, Please tend to me gently, and see that I am treated
By loving and competent hands.
Please protect me from the inhuman humans Who would hurt and torture me for their own amusement. I am accustomed to your gentle touch and am not always suspicious
Nor swift enough to avoid such malicious acts.
In my later years when my senses fail me And my infirmities become too great to bear,
Allow me the comfort and dignity that I desire for my closing days And help me gently in my pain or passing. Hear this prayer, my dear friend, my fate depends on you.
