Why You Should Pray a Daily Rosary - #1

“The Rosary is the most beautiful and the most rich

in graces of all prayers; it is the prayer that touches

most the Heart of the Mother of God…and if you wish

peace to reign in your homes, recite the family

Rosary.”

-Pope Saint Pius X

I wonder how we would react if Jesus suddenly stood among us

here in Peachtree City today and said, “Peace be with you.” Would

we be “startled and terrified”? Would we be incredulous? Would

we think we were seeing a ghost? Would we have the nerve to

touch him? Would we call the police or have him sent off for a

psychiatric evaluation? Would we follow him if he asked us to

travel with him? What would we do?

In today’s gospel from Luke 24:35-48, Jesus challenges the

Disciples by asking them, "Why are you troubled? And why

do questions arise in your hearts?” Basically, what he says to the

Disciples and to us 21st Century Disciples is, I am real. Not only

am I real, my message is real as well. And your job is to proclaim

this message to the entire world.

The message is clear. Jesus suffered and died. And on the third

day, He rose from the dead thus fulfilling what God the Father

(Acts 3:18). We are to proclaim “repentance for the forgiveness of

sins.” Repentance is total conversion. It means removing the obsta-

cles that keep us away from God. Repentance is a change of heart,

a change of mind and a change of behavior. As St. Peter tells us in

today’s first reading, “Repent, therefore, and be converted, that

your sins may be wiped away” (Acts 3:19).

Our final mandate is to preach the reality of Christ to “all the

nations.” Jesus told the Disciples to begin in Jerusalem. Our job

is to proclaim the reality of Jesus right here in Peachtree City,

Georgia. We can begin by acknowledging the real presence of

Jesus in our own lives, then in our immediate families, then in our

neighborhood, parish, work place, and school. It is up to us to make

Jesus real in our community.

God of the living,

who will believe that your Son is risen

if he is not alive among us today?

Open our minds to understand the Scriptures

and fill us with joyful wonder in the presence of the risen Christ,

that we may be his witnesses

to the ends of the earth.

We ask this through Jesus Christ,

the first-born from the dead,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God for ever and ever.

AMEN.

What is the Neophyte Year?

The first year a person enters the

Catholic Church, from the day of

initiation to the first anniversary of that

date, is known as the Neophyte Year.

Please pray for those at Holy Trinity who received

their sacraments at the Easter Vigil this year and also

those currently in formation in our RCIA program.

As our newest Catholics reflect on the sacraments

they recently received, let us all use the Easter Season

to consider the importance of the sacraments

in our own lives.

INVITATION TO THE EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS Each year the Eucharistic Congress brings together Catholics from across the archdiocese and the country to celebrate the visible, living presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Archbishop Gregory, Bishop Shlesinger, and Bishop Konzen ask that you join them for this year’s Eucharistic Congress at the Georgia International Con-vention Center, June 1 and 2.

The theme of the 2018 Eucharistic Congress comes from John 17:21, “That They May All Be One.” Let’s welcome our brothers and sisters into our hearts. Let’s allow Jesus to transform us, so we can become His hands and feet to go out into the world and spread the Good News.

ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED Altar servers have always been a great contribution to our Church! We would like to invite children who serve as altar servers in our parishes to vest in their parish vestments and participate in the clos-ing Mass of the Eucharistic Congress on Saturday, June 2nd at 5:00 p.m. Altar servers will participate in the processions and be seated in a special area. For more information, please contact Patricia DeJarnett, Office for Divine Worship at [email protected].

FIRST COMMUNICANTS PROCESSIONS Processions for the First Communicants at this year’s Eucharistic Congress are Saturday, June 2 at the morning Benediction and Sat-

urday evening Mass. Children in their First Communion attire should be dropped off by a parent or guardian in the hallway between Hall A and the Spanish Suite, between 8am-8:25am for the morning and between 4:30pm-4:55pm for the evening. For more information, please visit http://congress.archatl.com/coordinators/first-communicants/ or call 404-920-6800.

INVITATION FOR GUARDIANS Be generous and spend time with Jesus Christ in Adoration as a Guardian during the 2018 Eucharistic Congress. Come and feel Jesus’ love present in the Holy Eucharist and allow Him to heal and renew your soul. Guardians are needed between Friday, June 1 at 9pm and Saturday, June 2 at 6am. Please contact Maureen

additional information. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! The 2018 Euchar istic Congress comes at the beginning of the summer, just as your entire family is looking for quality and wholesome activities. Please prayerfully consider volunteering at the Congress on Friday, June 1 and/or Saturday, June 2. The success of the Congress relies greatly on volunteers. Our volunteer registration closes on April 30 to allow completion of paperwork and proper planning. For more infor-mation, please visit http://congress.archatl.com/.
