Catalyst #2 October 24, 2014Motivation and Goal Setting Journals and reflection sheets due today!

1. In the equation V x E = M, what does each letter stand for?

2. What is a SMART goal? (Review your handout.)

Now, turn to p. 86 in your OnCourse text.

3. What is one of your roles in life? What is your long-term goal in this role?

4. What is your long-term goal in your role as a student?

5. How do these goals connect to one another?

6. To achieve your long-term goals, you have to start with what is in front of you. Let’s set your first SMART goal for the new quarter.

Everyone MUST set a goal of at least 15 activities per week, which includes 2 mastery quizzes. (This means at least 3 activities per day.) Everyone MUST set a goal of at least earning a 60% on all activities, and an 80% on mastery quizzes.

Take a look back at your reflection sheets to see if you can set your goal higher than this.

Sample SMART Goal: I will complete 12 activities and 1 mastery quiz over the next 4 school days, completing them by Friday, October 31st. I will have scores of at least 60% on activities and at least 80% on mastery quizzes. Completing these activities and mastery quizzes will prepare me to re-take the Accuplacer and bring up my scores, saving me time and money in college.
