WOrKWEAr TESTEd FOr rEAl.Cutting-edge workwear requires cutting-edge testing. Snickers Workwear works closely with accredited test laboratories to ensure that our garments meet your expectations. But for us, the ultimate tests are carried out by our Test Crew – hard-working professionals in several countries who evaluate the quality, durability, comfort, protection and functionality of our garments, every day at work. This gives us invaluable insights for improvements and judging the result. What’s more, our Test Crew is very hard to please. Like the mould builders in the far North of Norway who put our GORE-TEX® garments to the test in the most extreme working environment. And the staff at the world famous ICEHOTEL® in northern Sweden, who fight off the arctic winter using Snickers Workwear. After all, nothing beats reality, and Snickers Workwear is made for real needs.

The Snickers Workwear test crew is our ultimate source of inspiration. They challenge us every day. Which is why we are constantly pushing the creative and technological limits in the development of cutting-edge workwear.

WOrKWEAr TESTEd FOr rEAl.TENSILE STRENgTH. To determine the fabrics tensile strength, i.e. how much force is needed to pull the fabric apart, strips of the fabric in both warp and weft direction are fastened in a machine. The machine rips them apart and measures the force used in Newtons. Snickers Workwear testing is performed according to the EN ISO 13934-1 international standard.

TEAR STRENgTH. To determine the fabrics tear strength, i.e. how much force is needed to rip the fabric apart, tear strength is measured using the same type of machine as for tensile strength. Strips of the fabric in both the warp and the weft direction are cut in the middle. The force it takes to tear the fabric apart is measured in newtons. Snickers Workwear uses the EN ISO 13937-2 international standard.

SPRAy TEST. Determines the fabrics water resistance. The more water droplets that stay on the fabric the better water resistance. Water is poured through a funnel onto the fabric, fastened in a frame with a sloping angle. The number of droplets remaining on the fabric at the end of the test is assessed against an international 1 -5 scale, where 5 is best. Snickers Workwear uses the SS-EN ISO 24920 spray test.

ABRASION RESISTANCE. The fabric is abraded against a rough woollen cloth or glass paper in a martindale machine The abrasion stops when two threads break in the woven fabric and when one thread is broken in knitted fabric. Snickers Workwear uses the EN 530:1994-method 2, measuring against glass paper and pressure of 12 kPa which is applicable as a reference standard on abrasion on protective and hard-wearing clothing.

WATER COLuMN. measures how much water pressure a waterproof fabric can withstand. Water is pressed against the fabric for a specific period of time. The result is measured in metres. A water column of 6 metres is equivalent to having 6 metres of water on top of the fabric without it penetrating the membrane or coating. Snickers Workwear uses the EN 20811/ISO 811 international standard.

COLOuR FASTNESS. Washed fabric is compared to unwashed fabric and the colour difference is compared against an international grey scale. Colour bleeding is measured by washing the fabric together with a multi-fibre strip. The strip is judged and compared to a standardised 1–5 grey scale, where 5 is best.

For water penetration there are 3 classes, where Class 2 requires Wp (water pressure) ≥ 8000 Pa and Class 3 requires Wp ≥ 13000 Pa. Class 1 requires the same as Class 2, but without pre-treatment.

By this we mean identifying the right material for each product and application. This depends on the profession, the working environment, the season and the weather the garment will be used in. Other important considerations are of course demands on durabi-lity and washing. And not least of all working comfort.

Comfort Cotton material: 100 % cotton, 390 g/m². features: A robust yet soft 100% cotton fabric. The Snickers Workwear Comfort Cotton garments are silicon and enzyme washed, making the fabric even stronger and giving it a softer feeling for outstanding working comfort.

Canvas+™ material: 60 % cotton/40 % polyester, 340 g/m². features: Strong and comfortable. The cotton fabric is reinforced with a small amount of polyester thread. This enables the comfort of cotton, yet with twice the strength and durability. The feeling of cotton is retained and you enjoy better washing properties with minimal changes in colour and shape.

Cotton Canvasmaterial: 100 % cotton, 290 g/m². features: 100 % natural cotton material. The special weaving technique produces a robust, hard-wearing surface and contributes to the powerful “Canvas-look”. Coolmax® fabrics are designed to move moisture away from the body and enhance fabric drying rate, thus keeping you feeling cool and dry. Coolmax® moves perspiration, through channels in the fibres structure away from the body to the fabric’s outer surface, where it can evaporate quickly. The performance of Coolmax® is inherent in the fibres structure itself, thereby providing consistent performance wash after wash. The soft, lightweight and breathable fabric gives clothes a natural feel with an added touch of performance that keeps them comfortable and brings cool comfort to everyday apparel.

measure rIght – for a perfect fIt.Whatever your measurements, we want to ensure that you get optimally fitting garments. So fol-low our measuring tips carefully to make sure you get the right size. Our clothing sizes are based on established EU standards (En 340), which means that you can rely on getting the right size every time. Snickers Workwear garments are available in many different sizes, and we keep all standard sizes in stock for speedy deliveries (see specific garment for the standard size range). We are also proud to be able to offer special sizes – it may take a little longer, but it’s well worth it.

mEasUrEmEnt tips: The greater the precision, the better the fit. To ensure accurate measurements, the measuring tape should be wrapped tightly around the waist or chest or firmly extended when measuring height or the inside leg. Best is of course to try on the garment!

To ensure an accurate height measurement, measure bare-footed.

hEight

Dressed in briefs or with trousers undone and lowered. Measure where you usu-ally have the waistband of your trousers. If you are measuring for a one-piece suit, be sure to measure where you have your biggest measurement, (perhaps around the stomach).

When measuring the inside leg, measure bare-footed.
