The foundation in Galati in 1870, by the German Company Strousberg, of the Romanian Railway Workshops, involved the occurrence of the factory, intended as supplier for necessary industrial equipment and spare parts.

During the time, these workshops extended their manufacturing capacities and their range of fabrication.

Beginning with 1966, after the changing into Galati Naval Mechanical Enterprise, the manufacturing line was completely changed and the company has become the main supplier of decks equipments intended to equip the ships built on Romanian shipyards.

From 1990 the company became MENAROM S.A., a stock company, whose activity is mainly focused on manufacturing of marine mechanical and electrical equipments, but also of technological and metallurgical equipments.

In August 2007, EURO P.E.C GROUP S.A. Galati, a Romanian joint stock company, purchased the whole share stock of MENAROM S.A. Galati, which is now an active member of this Group under the name of MENAROM P.E.C. S.A..

Enjoying of a rich experience of more than 40 years and due to his production capacities capable to satisfy the most various technological requirements and with the human support of a skilled personnel, MENAROM P.E.C. proves the capability of the company to continuously improve the quality and diversity of his products for his partners, companies belonging both to E.U. (Holland, Germany, Norway, Greece, France etc.) and Romanian market (Damen Shipyard, Aker Shipyard, Giurgiu Shipyard, Arcelor Mittal and others).

Thus, further to continuous endeavors to better match the market demands, MENAROM P.E.C. has successfully assimilated and delivered, under competitive conditions regarding price and quality, the products requested by his clients.

Company's current production range includes:

MENAROM P.E.C.'s winches are diversified from constructive point of view and the below items are mounted on them:- – made up from an enclosed welded housing in which the tooth wheels are working in an oil bath for providing a proper oiling and cooling. Oil filling and drain plugs are also provided. To check up the oil level, the reduction gear has an observation hole.- (chain slip-lifter) – intended for anchoring operation by using either a bridge-link or a bridgeless chain (DIN 766). It is a solid welded construction, that can be operated by means of a clutch claw or a friction coupling (at Diesel engine winches).- – also used for the anchoring operation by means of a steel cable. In this case, at least three wire turns have to remain for security purposes. As the anchor break out is to be done on the first layer, the right calculation of the cable length is very important.- – used for operation when a nylon rope which is stored on a area of the drum called stocking area that is separated from the drum working area by means of an intermediate disk. - – intended for the operation with a nylon rope; for safety operations at least three turns of rope have to remain on drum.- – provided with metal strips and a lining that is resistant to friction. They can be provided with rods for vertical tightening, but in case there is no enough space for such type of brake, a band brake with horizontal rod can be used. As an option, these brakes can be equipped with a pneumatic cylinder for the remote control operation from the wheel cabin, a system that is intended for the brakes release in emergency cases. - – by using brackets with the base plate welded on deck or supports provided with mounting shoes for the winch mounting on deck by means of screws. The winches can be also mounted on bed plates for an easy transport and mounting on deck.- – it is an option suitable for those winches provided with chain wheel, in order to avoid the chain blocking. - - can be of electric, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic or DIESEL type. For electric operation there are used marine electric motors with brakes and protection degree IP56 (TENV – no fan with natural cooling). Their design allows an overload operation for two minutes necessary to break the anchor out. Anti-ex motors are used if the winches are intended for mounting on ships transporting explosive substances. For such winches, the electric motors can be of single, two or three speed type. The speed adjustment of hydraulic motor is done from their operating system.- – intended for mooring winches with a big stocking capacity where a proper winding of turns is required. - – is a manual operating system using a lever and a claw for the anchor lifting when the power system is inoperable. - – intended for mooring winches when a warping operation is required to provide a static force greater than the band brake holding force. The system is made up from a claw that is set on deck and the indexing wheel is mounted on one of the drum walls.

The winches are certified by the main classification societies, such as: RNR, GL, BV, LRS, DNV, ABS, etc. with electric, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic or DIESEL operation. These winches are made up

from the below items which can be combined one to each other: 1. (chain slip-lifter) for a stud link chain of size 19 mm up to 40 mm and the quality of

material U1 or U2;2. for steel cable (type 6x36 with tensile strength of 1960 N/mm2) and diameters

ranging between 18 mm and 36 mm);3. with cu nylon roe or steel cable. It is provided with intermediate disk to separate

the stocking area from the active one;4. for mooring operation by using the nylon rope;

, with electric, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic or DIESEL operation in the following variants: 1. (chain slip-lifter) for stud link chain, size from 19 mm up to 54 mm and material

quality U2 or U3;2. for steel cable (type 6x36 with tensile strength of 1960 N/mm2) and diameters

ranging between 20 mm and 44 mm);3. with nylon rope or steel cable. It is provided with intermediate disk to separate the

stocking area from the active one;4. for operation using the nylon rope.
