Introduction

JYSK is an international retail chain that sells 'everything for the home'. The retail chain is owned by the founder Lars Larsen, who throughout Denmark is known as the country's leading merchant who always has a 'good deal'. Today JYSK is represented with over 2,200 stores in 37 countries

You have successfully finished your studies at Learnmark Horsens, and have decided to apply for an office trainee position with JYSK headquarters in Brabrand. The advertised position is in the marketing department.

Office trainee position - marketing department at JYSK HeadquartersDo you know the word ”talent” has numerous interpretations – and does not necessarily have anything to do with good grades and impressive school certificates?

Would you like to manage your own store? Are you aiming for a management position? Would you like to work in Denmark, China or one of the other more than 30 countries in which we are represented?For us the job-calculation looks like this: “Talent + hard work= reality”

At JYSK headquarters in Brabrand we are currently looking for a self-motivated and driven new office trainee for the marketing department.

Our new trainee must possess the following skills and traits:

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Organisational skills A team player but also good at working independently Energetic Flexibility to adapt to an ever changing environment Excellent IT and language skills

Task 2 – Company presentation

JYSK’s popularity is growing in the UK market.

One of the trendy magazines “Living Etc.” http://www.lifestyleetc.co.uk/ is running a Danish Design theme, and therefore they would like to visit you to do an interview about JYSK.

The marketing manager has now asked you to prepare a presentation of JYSK. Your presentation may include the following points:

History The founder Products Target groups CSR Marketing

At the exam:

Present the company presentation of JYSK, which you have prepared using PowerPoint

Task 3 – Employer branding

In Enclosure 1 you will find an article from “GO JYSK” (June 2015), a staff magazine published by JYSK. The title of the article is “New look creates familiarity”

Read the article (see enclosure 1 and link) Make an oral summary of the main points in the article

At the exam:

Give an oral summary of the article What is employer branding? What is the purpose of the article and why is it brought in the staff magazine? Explain the connection between employer branding and values of a company

Task 4 – Big winter sale

JYSK is planning a big campaign to mark the upcoming winter sales in late February. In that connection you have been asked to make a draft for the advertisement. The advertisement is to be printed in a newspaper. The advertisement should include the following information:

JYSK logo Date and time Products Relevant pictures

At the exam:

Present the advertisement Present your target group and give reasons for your choice. Explain your choice of colours and graphic elements.

Task 5 Business Enquiry

The office furniture at JYSK in Brabrand is a bit worn out. You have been asked to find a new supplier of furniture. After a bit of research on the internet you find a suitable supplier of office furniture in the UK called Kinnarps:

Write the enquiry for Kinnarps in which you ask for a quotation for various products (you decide the products)

Remember to ask for terms of delivery and payment and whether you can be granted any discounts
