Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Cross Country Success. Congratulations Miss Fabian & Mrs Gorzanelli for

another outstanding carnival. They ordered perfect weather and with the help and

hard-work of all the teachers, the day was perfect. It was great to see so many parents

join us for the day. Congratulations to all the students who participated and “had a

go”. A big thank you also to our Parent Group who gave up their time to run the BBQ.

NAPLAN The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) was

completed by all students in Years 3 and 5 last week. Congratulations to our students

who attempted the assessments to the best of their ability in a calm and well prepared

manner. Student results will be sent home some time in Term 3.

School Uniform. With the cold weather arriving it is important to ensure your child’s clothing is clearly

labelled with your child’s name and class. Students often remove jumpers and jackets

when the day warms up and if these items are misplaced, returning them to their

owner is impossible if they do not have a name on them.

Canteen Reminder. It is important that parents and students place all orders

before 9am, late orders can be taken up until 9:10am. Orders after this time may be

limited/restricted to certain items. This is another reason why arriving at school before

the 9.00am bell is important.

Mid year reports and 3-way interviews are also planned for this term. We are

going to involve students in the interview process by having them present at the

interview and they will be actively involved in the process: having their say and

participating in updating parents on their progress and goals. I would like to

encourage all parents to attend these meetings. It is important to note that Student

Reports will be handed out to parents at the interviews. We expect all parents to

attend a 3-way interview. The interview is a great opportunity for teachers, students

and parents to share in learning progress and achievements. Due to staff leave this

term it is not possible to have all interviews in the same week. The interviews for

classes will be spread across the term. Each class will have 3-way interview notes sent

home the week before they are held. Ensure you select an interview day and time and

return the note to the teacher. This process strengthens the important partnership

between the school and home.

Too sick for school?

As the cold weather hits, so do the winter bugs. It’s often hard to know whether to

send your child to school or let them stay home to recover, especially when that

means an adult cancelling work. For safety's sake, if your child seems unwell you

should always keep them home from school and seek medical advice.

WEEK 5

Working and playing safely

From The Office

School photos were delivered this week. They

have been distributed to students today. If you

did not order photos and would like to place a

late order please contact the photographer

directly. MSP Photography on 9499 6555.

We are also expecting a delivery of winter

uniform next week. If you are waiting for new

stock to come in please call at the office later in

the week to make your purchase.

Please be sure to make payments for

excursions and activities by the due date on

the note. (Remember if your child brings home

a red note it means the permission note and

payment are due the following day). We are

required to notify venues and bus operators of

our numbers by a certain date and this is why

final dates are included on all notes. If your

child is absent or you are unable to make the

payment by the due date please call the office

to discuss the matter. We are usually able to

make some arrangement for payment to be

made after the due date and have your child

still included in the numbers. We do not want

any of our children to miss the exciting

activities and opportunities offered.

Children arriving to school late should be

accompanied by their parent/caregiver or have

a letter of explanation from their

parent/caregiver with them. Children are not

able to provide an explanation for any absence,

this is the responsibility of the

parent/caregiver. Any late arrival is marked as

an unexplained absence unless the

parent/caregiver provides a verbal or written

explanation.
