March 28, 1798, DAVID WHITLOCK, of S1. Paul's Parish, wrote his will which was probated September 19,1798. During his lifetime he had purchased of one John Garland lands in Halifax County on Hyco River,which he subsequently sold to Dabney Miller. This land was later devised by Mrs. MARTHA WHITLOCK toher two surviving children. A law suit resulted, instituted in the Superior Court of Law and Chancery inRichmond in which the Court decreed that the tract of land be divided into four lots "first choice to be castbetween Francis Timberlake, Sr. (now dec'd) and MARTHA WHITLOCK and John Allen Richardson,Executrix and Executor." DAVID WHITLOCK also possessed land in Hanover, Randolph County (now WestVirginia) and Kentucky. Survived by his five children and his widow, Martha, who died with will datedNovember 5, 1825, two Codicils dated April 22, 1833. Probated February 27, 1839. Their issue:1. CHARLES WHITLOCK, died without issue between 1798 and 1825.2. TURNER RICHARDSON WHITLOCK, died without issue between 1798 and 1825.3.
