The Senior Class
Presents the

Lyndonville Central School
Lyndonville, New York
I I
You may range through all the rainbow
And love each separate hue;
You may praise the rosy sunrise
Or the evening skies so blue;
But the colors of our high school
Due honor shall not lock,
While we con sing of Lyndonville,
And the Orange and the Block.
A lma Mater
Thru four long years of high school 'Midst the scenes we love so well,
As the mystic charms to knowledge We vainly seek to spell;
Or we win athletic victories
On the baseball field or track,
Still we work for dear old Lyndonville,
And the Orange and the Block.
l
I /
_./I
When the cares of life o'ertoke us
Mingling fast our locks with gray,
Should our dearest hopes betray us
False fortunes fade away;
Still we banish core and sadness
As we turn our memories bock,
And recall those days of gladness,
'Neath the Orange and the Block.

Although the team's record is not impressive, many of this year's games were very close and the outcome
was not dec ided until the final gun sounded. The last game, our victory over Elba, was e specially impressive
with e ach unit working perfectly together . Touchdowns this year were scored by G ary Skinner, Gerry Kage ,
Gordon Bentley, and Wilson Southworth .

As it happens periodically , the baseball team experienced a rebuilding year. The season started out slowly
with no field on which to practice or have the home game s . However, the season ended with Lyndonville w inning
two games, Elba, stymying their championship hopes, and also a very strong team from Royalton- Hartland.
Rodger Brown was the se ason's t op batter and Gary Skinner and John Long each pitched one winning ga me.

Coach Charles Derwick
Following the coaching of Charles Derwick, the basketball team tried to again
bring the league championship to Lyndonville. With a team that won the champion-
ship last year, this seemed more than probable. A first string of center Gary Skinne r ,
forward s A lan Woodworth and Anthony Giampapa, and guards Gary Wilson and John
Wood worth proved to be a winning combination in our first win over Byron - Bergen
46-25. With the help of the student bod y and the cheerle aders, we know the team
will do as well for the rest of the season.

The J. V. Tigers started this year with players who saw limited action on last
years squad and freshmen. Although the Tiger Cubs have been on the short end of the
scoring this season, they have shown good sportsmanship and a potential greater than
their record accounts for. These players need a little time before it functions as a
unit. W hen this is accomplished the J. V . Tigers will show us better results in the
near future.

This year a new sport was introd uced to the Lyndonville students. A long with this new sport , a new kind of
d esire was brought into being. Because Lynd onville is i n its first year of wrestling, there was a bit of d oubt as to
whether or not the team wou ld be able t o face the challenge that a first -year team must face. But this d oubt was soon d issolved as a result of the fine coaching by Fred Large. M r. Large has instilled a d esire to w in as a
team and as an ind ividual. The team had a tremend ous amount of spirit and support , evidenced by the c rowds t hat attend ed every match.

This year's A. F. S. Club has d one much, it feels , to promote world relations , by
lea rning how the rest of the world lives . Its members have taken an active interest
in the exchanging of students , from and to the United States. We have had one of our semi-annua l Tag Days , a hop, and managed a store selling sweatshirts and school
supplies, to raise m oney to bring next year's exchange student to Lyndonvil l e , and to
send an Ame rican abroad. This is the purpose of the A. F . S. and we feel that in this
end , we have been a fairly successful one!
