Ondeck runs a busy program for individual sailing enthusiasts. Whether you want to race with a couple of mates and cannot justify the expense of a full boat charter, never done racing before and want to experience big boat sailing in warm seas or you have plenty of experience but no time to organise getting a crew together, Ondeck has the package for you.

All our individual sailing options are onboard our Farr 65s and are fully crewed. We have 3 professionals onboard each yacht and no more than 15 paying crew (usually 12 or less). The individuals who choose this type of racing are like-minded and fun seeking. Ages have ranged from 18 – 74, with a good mix of male and female. Please be aware that the level of ability will vary for every event and that all ages and nationalities will be working together as one crew.

Many prefer to race onboard and stay in a hotel, but we do also have a small percentage that stay onboard. All rates include onboard bottled drinking water, fuel and dockage fees and race entry. They also include a crew shirt and a sandwich lunch on racing days. Guaranteed; you will make friends, race hard and go home with a smile on your face! (A reasonable level of physical fitness recommended)

Starting at the Barbados Cruising Club, you will sail through the historic Carlisle Bay, pass the deep water harbour to starboard and then begin a 20 mile tight reach in calm water up the platinum coast of Barbados passing the homes and haunts of the very rich and very famous. After rounding the top of the island you will encounter the full force of the Atlantic with nothing between you and Africa. You will then face a good 7 mile plus beat in tricky currents, wind shifts and big waves. Follow this with a 20 mile fetch, riding those same waves beam on, trying to maximize speed without losing height enough to clear East Point. Bear away and hoist through the big breaking Atlantic rollers for a fantastic 18 mile downwind slide along the south coast. Drop the kites and skate round the South West corner of the island to the finish!

The St Thomas International Rolex Regatta is renowned for it‟s yacht club feel whilst delivering excellent racing from beach cats to big boats. The Rolex is a magnet for the mid-sized competitive yachts with challenging courses set off the south coast of the Virgin Islands. 2008 saw Ondeck‟s Farr 40 „Bandit‟ under the midas touch of match racing royalty, Peter Holmberg - achieving a 2nd place. The St Thomas Rolex and the BVI Spring Regatta and sailing festival make up what is known as the Virgin Islands Race Week and Ondeck offer great value „combined regatta‟ rates to compete in both events in an extended charter. Ondeck work closely with the organisers as the preferred charter provider for this event to ensure that your experience is as good as it gets!

The BVI boasts flat water racing in the most attractive setting in the Caribbean. A mixture of fun sailing and serious racing over a week brings out competitors from all over the world. Famous for short round the cans racing combined with distance races, the BVI‟s is geared to the mid sized racing yacht. This year sees the 41st running of the regatta and promises to the best yet. The event starts with the 4 day sailing festival starting at Nanny Cay in Tortola and then a race takes you up to the bitter end yacht club for the 3 days of serious racing. This format gives a great chance to see so many beautiful places in one regatta. Previous competitors have quoted the event as having “great weather and great wind” with the organisers boasting WARM WATER – HOT RACING!
