As the rst point o escalation or service requests romusers, we have two t ypes o service desk analyst: one group that troubleshoots and resolves all issues with IT services,and another that specializes in real-time applicationssupporting Schlumberger Oil eld Services.

On-SITe SuppOrT AnAlYST

Providing the second point o escalation to resolveproblems with users PCs, as well requests and changes,

in a multi-protocol network environment.

ApplIcATIOn DevelOper

Analyzing, designing, developing, and maintainingso tware applications used by the business to meetits ast-evolving needs.

IT SecurITY SpecIAlIST

Managing IT security awareness at all levels in thebusiness, assessing and checking systems and networks,working on security policies and strategies, and givingeedback on business realities versus securit y policies,plans, and procedures.

Be ore this, I spent our mont hs in Brazil,working close to the users out in t heeld and as on-site engineer throughoutColombia. That really helped me to understand the stresses the useraces every day.

I think the company appreciates the hugeresponsibility we have to keep usersconnected, so I get great communicationand eedback. My manager is verysupportive. His door is always open.

In almost six years at Schlumberger I canhonestly say that Ive learned somethingnew every day.

I got a wide experience o Schlumberger when I did avacation placement ollowed by a couple o temporary jobs.When I graduated, I joined the IT organization on the servicedesk, and I moved rapidly rom there to service delivery and then on to application support or our HR systems.

Each time I made a career move, I discussed it with mymanager very openly. We looked at my strengt hs and the training I needed; I always elt that my career progressionwas important to t he company.

A couple o years ago I was asked i I wanted to be par t o the project t o roll outa new messaging environment or Schlumberger worldwide. Once this was nished, it wasa natural move to supporting t he system. So now Im part o a global team: two in Dubai, three in the UK, two in the USA, and me in Indonesia.

We work very closely together, even i its mostly remote communication. Having teammembers working across all the time zones means some can pick up where the others havele t o trying to x a problem... we all pitch in. The act that we have very sophisticateddiagnostic and monitoring toolsand were working with solid, mature technologyhelpsa lot. Our aim is always to x a problem be ore the user even notices its there!
