Job Description:Kempsey Shire Council, located on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales is part of the Macleay Valley

Coast. The Macleay River is at the heart of the Kempsey Shire as it carves its way from the mountains of

ENGINEERING OPPORTUNTY

An opportunity exists for a qualified civil engineer to join our Operations team. The successful candidate

will have a sound understanding of civil infrastructure issues and some experience in the local

government sector. Working closely with Council staff and the community to deliver outcomes they will

have well developed communication skills and a commitment to deliver outcomes for the community.

(plus 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance and Super)

Reporting to the Manager Operations, this position is responsible for providing professional engineering

advice in the design, maintenance and replacement of Councils infrastructure including roads, bridges,

drainage, flood mitigation, paths, cycle ways, Council buildings, recreational facilities, aerodrome and

parks and gardens.

The role will project manage various construction projects through the use of Councils resources and/or

contractors with due consideration of current standards and guidelines.

To be successful in this position you should have tertiary qualifications in engineering and at least three

years experience in local government or a related area. We are seeking motivated people who arecustomer focussed team players with leadership skills. Applicants should also have high quality work

ethics and integrity, and an innovative approach to work methods and changes in the workplace. You will

also require sound problem solving skills, a good ability to negotiate and a mind for detail.
