About the Office of Careers and Placement Services

The Office of Careers and Placement Services (CAPS) aim to provide a link between

employers and students to optimize students’ career plans. We offer comprehensive

career guidance, resources and services to PolyU students, including:

• Career development and training programmes to help students identify

career interests, prepare for workplace requirements and hone their job

searching skills

• Personal and small group career coaching and guidance to optimize

students’ career plans

• Local, China and International internship opportunities for the fulfilment

of Work-Integrated Education requirements

• Meeting and networking with prospective employers to learn about

graduate job opportunities at recruitment talks, career fairs and

industry seminars

• Various internship opportunities, graduate permanent placements

Mr Albert Yip has over 27 years of experience in corporate finance, internal auditing, risk management, compliance and information security across the Asia Pacific Region and the United States.

Currently, Mr Yip is the Head of Audit Services (Asia) of Manulife Financial, responsible for the regional internal audit functions in the Asia Division that has operations across 11 countries / territories. He has a regional leadership role of a world-class audit team, comprising of around 40 high-calibre internal audit professionals, including Vice-President level and Director-graded internal audit officers, who are specialists in finance, IT/IS, assets management and investment, as well as other business areas.

Mr Yip received his Master of Science Degree in Information Systems from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and his Honours Degree in Accountancy from the City University of Hong Kong.

Mr Yip possesses the designations of FCPA (Aust.), CMA, CRMA, CRISC and Forensic CPA (U.S.). He is the Honorary Advisor and Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee of CMA Australia; and a member of the SEC Committee of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the Chairperson of the Financial Service Committee of CPA Australia.

Akina Fong Kin-yee is an experienced journalist. She graduated from the School of Journalism and Communication at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Upon graduation, Akina joined the Radio Television Hong Kong as a Reporter and TV Producer. She joined the TVB as a senior reporter in 2006 and took the role as a news anchor in 2007. She was a regular anchor for the revamped week-night “News Roundup” – the highest rating news programme on TVB Jade.

Akina embarked on a fresh career at the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) in April 2012. After concluding her employment contract in October 2014, Akina kicked off her new endeavor to engage in TV and radio programme hosting, teaching at various local universities as a part-time lecturer, joining AWTC (Lo & Lam) Consultancies Ltd as Senior Consultant and joining BEIS Leather Workshop as Senior Designer.
