News From 4 Year Old Kindergarten

It’s May already! How did that happen so quickly? The 4K has had a very busy school

year so far. We've learned many new skills, including following the school routine and making

new friends. The children enjoy exploring the learning centers in our rooms as well as making

projects and singing songs. We also have great fun in the gym.

This spring we will be watching caterpillars change into butterflies and learning about the

school forest. In June, we will celebrate with a 4K graduation ceremony.

Our year is moving right along!

Each year, the Waushara County Farm Bureau hosts an annual essay contest for all 4th and 5th graders based around a theme from Wisconsin Ag in the Class-room. Mrs. Rettler's and Mrs. Schmick's 4th grade classes from Tri-County Elemen-tary wrote essays on this year's theme, "Tell us about producing maple syrup in Wisconsin." From all of the county-wide submitted essays, a committee from the Waushara County Farm Bureau selected Paige Makaryk and Sam Raboin as this year's essay runner-ups and Brianna Buechner as this year's winner. Brianna's essay will be sent to the Farm Bureau dis-trict level to once again be judged. Sam and Paige each received a "I Love Maple Syrup" T-shirt and a $10 Walmart gift card and Brianna received a "I Love Maple Syrup" T-shirt and a $20 Walmart gift card from the Waushara Farm Bureau. Pictured here are Mrs. Jarvis, Paige Makaryk, Sam Raboin, Brianna Buechner, and Mrs. Ret-tler.

We celebrated School Library Month with a fantastic trivia contest April 18th-22nd! Our students showed

they know their stuff with impressive scores by all the contestants. Questions ranged from popular quotes, to

characters, pseudonyms, and more! Did you know that the C.S. in C.S. Lewis stands for Clive Staples? Or that the Adventures of Pinocchio

has been translated into over 240 languages? Well, our students sure did!

The winner was Tori Boyd, a senior, followed closely by Morelle Heiden in 6th grade, and Emma J. Walker

in 9th grade also did a great job! Enjoy your prizes ladies, and we’ll have to make some harder trivia next

year to keep the challenge running!

Tri-County decided to challenge Mi-chael Johnson's elementary school to see which school could raise more money for the family in a week. The administrative team, Mr. Marti, Mrs. Jepson and Mr. Marinack, agreed to wear the school colors of Michael's Elementary School after the big reveal that Portage Elementary School won the challenge.

Outstanding academic achievement was recently announced by the Wisconsin Vol-leyball Coaches Association. Recipients of this award were seniors- Emily Wills and Macy Klabunde, juniors- Ivy Klabunde and Briana Dickinson, and Sophomores- Makenzie Conley, Brooke Hopkins, and Andrea Boyd. All Academic Players recog-nizes players who earned a varsity letter and achieved at least a 3.5 GPA during the first semester of the 2015-2016 school year. Congratulations on a job well done!

Spotlight on Limmerick! The lights were bright in Ireland this last month with our Middle School production of “Finn McCool and his Fearless Wife”! And truly Morelle Heiden had to be fearless as this play featured meddling leprechauns played by Sophie and Lena Reid and Gracie Wilson. Not to mention the Banshee Queen and her fairy court played by Rebeccah Dowen, Kacie Williams, Sydney Smith, Tori Pronschinske, and Madey Creamer. The townsfolk also provided plenty of humor and pressure on the boastful Finn McCool, played by Kyle West. Rumors flew from the washerwomen to the local farmers mounting in a showdown with the Banshee Queen! The students did a fantastic job from our tal-ented make-up crew, prop master, curtain mas-ter, and lighting engineer thru the entire cast of 29 actors and actresses! We are very grateful for all the support from the community, parents, and staff that made such a large production possible. Without their donations, sewing skills, and dedi-cation to the production our dreams would not have become reality. We are all looking forward to what the next year will bring!

Root Beer Floats 4 Michael was a HUGE success with the support of so many people… This school district might be small in numbers but ENORMOUS in giving. We had monetary donations pouring in from parents, grandparents, community members, businesses, school organi-zations, and more, all in support of Michael Johnson and his fam-ily. The staff donated over one hundred 2 Liter bottles of Root Beer, over 1,000 solo cups, and over 2,000 straws and plastic spoons. At the end of the week, we were excited to hear one community member wanted to purchase a root beer float for all the students in the entire school district. We were so honored to have the entire Johnson Family, includ-ing Michael, at school on April 22 for the check presentation as-sembly. On behalf of the students, staff, community members, and businesses of Plainfield and surrounding communities...we presented the Johnson Family with a check for $2,350!!!

Members of the National Honor Society (NHS) were presented with a Youth Activities award from the Veter-

ans of Foreign Wars of the United States Auxiliary (VFW Auxiliary). This award, presented by Susan Zouski, recognizes NHS members for participating in the Holiday Mail for Heroes program last winter. Through this program, NHS members write and distribute holiday cards for members of the armed forces and veterans who are in medical facilities during the Holidays. Recipiants of these holiday cards are very apprecia-tive of the heartfelt efforts made by NHS members to remember them during the Holidays. It is an honor to be recognized by the VFW auxiliary for this service.

Walker, Sydnie Rehwinkel, Bailey Lehouillier and Katelyn Simmons are pictured with Rob Dietz, grammy winning arranger for Pentatonix. Not pictured, but also in attendance was Dakotah Lockhart. Pictured in the picture on the right are Kenton Chen and Mario Jose Lo-pez, members of the a cappella group Level at their masterclass about singing with feeling. ACAPACOLYPSE!! On April 8-9, T-C choir students got the opportunity to attend an amaz-ing concert of a cappella music featuring the group Level, whose mem-bers have worked in various musical groups including Pitch Perfect 2, and The Sing-Off and worked with Pentatonix. On Saturday, the stu-dents got to attend various masterclasses taught by these amazing pro-fessionals on everything from vocal percussion, to beat boxing, to work-ing as a group. They got to hear many groups of various sizes and abili-ties, perform their a cappella songs. They all came together at the end of the day to perform in a group of about 500 students, an a cappella ar-rangement of People Like Us, arranged especially for the event by Rob Dietz. It was a fun, intense, and memorable day for the choir students.

10th grader, Rheya Heiden,

has an interest in science, a

passion for being a strong

student, and a wonderful per-

sonality. Mr. Joe Raboin said

that this is evident on a daily

basis, as she makes the most

out of class time, whether it

be for a lab, an assignment, a

project, or simply taking

notes. Without question,

Rheya is a positive force in

her biology class period.

Julio Reyes-Sanchez, 11th

grade, has come a long way

since his first year in high

school said Mr. John Me-

syk. As his math teacher, he

has been impressed by his

ability to solve various

math problems that are

difficult for other students.

Mr. Mesyk has enjoyed

having him in class because

of his wit and humor. He

hopes Julio continues to

make good progress in the

future.

12th grader, Brett Lockman,

works hard to succeed in all of

his classes said Mr. John Me-

syk. Brett doesn't make excuses

when things don't go as well as

wished. Brett is within weeks of

his graduation from Tri-County

and we wish him well in all of

his future pursuits.

Erica Pronschinske, 8th grade, is a tremendously talented student who works hard to

achieve her goals. According to Mrs. Clark, she consistently puts forth her very best ef-

fort on each and every assignment; Erica does not cut corners and never makes ex-

cuses. Mrs. Clark appreciates her work ethic and is proud to have been her English

teacher for 7th and 8th grade. Ms. Byrum has had the extreme pleasure to be Erica’s

teacher for three years. Even though she is currently taking High School Algebra, she

gets to spend study hall and sometimes IMPACT with her, not to mention interact with

her during Student Council meetings and activities. Erica is a positive role model in and

out of school, she sets high goals and works hard to achieve them. It has been such a

pleasure having her in class and seeing her in the hall; she wishes her the very best in high

school and can't wait to see where it takes her.

Emma J. Walker, 9th grade,

is the epitome of "be the gray

man" in class. According to

Mr. Ken Franz, she never

draws attention to herself

except on April Fool’s day,

when the hidden Emma peeks

out. But on all the other days,

you can find Emma quietly

engaged in the business of

paying attention, doing her

best, and trying hard. She

never compromises the learn-

ing of others to seek attention

for herself. She shows up to

class, on time, ready to

learn. She brings a sense of

humor that she doesn't show

all that often, but if you're

lucky enough and pay atten-

tion, you get to see her genu-

ine smile. Thanks Emma J. 7th grader, Aurelia Vega, enjoyed her first winter in Wisconsin for quite some time. Ms. Dawn

Byrum is so extremely pleased that her family decided to stay the entire school year because

Aurelia is such a positive addition to her class. Aurelia takes enormous pride in her work, the

detail and neatness in everything she does is mind blowing. She is consistently on task and is

pushing herself to her full potential. Even though she may be soft spoken, her positive pres-

ence in class is remarkably notable. Ms. Byrum is looking forward to having her again in 8th

grade!!! Aurelia is such a pleasant person to be around. Mrs. Rhonda Clark said that Aurelia

is an exceptional student who takes great pride in her work and regularly exceeds expectations.

In addition to her academic strengths, Aurelia is a gracious young lady who always greets oth-

ers with a smile on her face. Mrs. Clark is fortunate to be her 7th grade English teacher and

looks forward to working with her in 8th grade as well.

After several months of hard work, the T-C Pride class has finished the

awesome iceberg mosaic base for our new T-C Penguin sculpture! It

seemed like a never-ending project involving many layers of cement and

thousands of pieces of stained glass. Thanks to the students, pictured L-R

with the Penguin: Samantha Conley, Claudia Gonzalez, Nick Belt, Griscelda

Ramirez, and Gabriela Ramirez. Next on our agenda will be a fun mural in

the elementary library.

Thanks to all the generous individuals and groups who made the purchase

of this unique sculpture. Pictured is a permanent plaque on the base on

the sculpture with all contributors names. Also, many thanks to artist

Jeff Mohr for his great portrait of our mascot penguin. This will be a

feature in our school for many years to come.

Our Instrumental Music Department has had a very suc-cessful year. First place in Parade, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and 28 Pep Band performances showed how well we performed, how often we participated and that T-C students can achieve great things! We will miss the 18 seniors but the show will go on, keeping the fine musical traditions of Tri-County School moving forward. Upcoming events include: May 7- State Solo and Ensem-ble Contest at UW-SP, May 27 HS Graduation-7 PM, the annual Memorial Day Parade-10 AM Monday May 30-(Grades 8-11, Current Band members) and the 4th of July Parades- 5 events in one day- departing on July 3 at 4 PM. Thank you to all the terrific students of T-C, our support-ing parents and the T-C Administration and School Board. Mr. and Mrs. Femal
