OUR MISSION

Helping youth find their voice - allowing them to effectuate change in their lives, their communities,

and the world at large.

A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDERCapitol Debate is thrilled to offer a new after school debate program to students at The Langley School.

Our goal is to give every student the unique opportunity to learn to compete in debate. Debate gives children the confidence and self-esteem they need to find their unique voice and effectuate positive change throughout their lives.

Langley's mission statement parallels Capitol Debate's core values in that we strongly believe that every child's potential is boundless. By practicing multiple disciplines with an accredited staff, Capitol Debate embraces the talent of every student to encourage positive academic and social growth as fundamental building blocks into their future.

Our organization is structured to promote the necessary skills individuals need to enhance their lives and the communities around them. Opportunity for advanced learning adds dynamism to student's academics, which later helps them get into better colleges and achieve life-long career goals.

One of Capitol Debate's best features is our phenomenal faculty. Our faculty members possess a wide range of credentials and have a variety of professional backgrounds. Since each instructor offers a different perspective on the same debate topic, students will develop a more flexible style of argumentation.

We provide an entire infrastructure with multiple academic facets so each child can really grasp a clear understanding of the debate world. We do this by providing hands-on interaction with coaches, collaboration with a variety of schools, as well as online classes and resources for students to learn at their individual pace.

In addition to our program's many academic benefits, Capitol Debate is confident we can provide families with a comprehensive program that no other debate program can. With many years of experience, Capitol Debate is the go-to organization for all things debate related. We offer the most efficient program itineraries, travel arrangements, and competition schedules available.

We look forward to meeting all of you and working with your children!

The institute's curriculum will focus on several major objectives. First, all labs will be led by experienced head coaches, with recently graduated debaters assisting at the direction of the coach in daily activities. Students will spend large portions of each day working with these head coaches in drills and practice debates to diagnose weaknesses and develop an individual plan to improve. With a staff that has been zealous advocates in shaping the future of debate, students will also be encouraged to consider trends in the event and how their approach to debate might need to change in the coming years to remain successful.
