BEHIND THE SCENES — How it all began

Ironbark Security was established in 2013 by Ben Harwood. Ben’s involvement in the security industry began in

1988 and focused on crowd control security work. By 2005 Ben was working full time undertaking crowd control and

site security. With a strong social conscience driving him, Ben began doing unpaid security work assisting victims of

domestic violence to remove themselves and property from their places of danger. After failing to get support in the

industry for this vital community work and seeing many colleagues receive poor remuneration arrangements and

working conditions, Ben and Fiona Harwood stepped out and established Ironbark Security. From humble

beginnings, Ironbark Security has grown rapidly to provide security services across the mining, civil and private

construction industries in addition to major events and security patrols.
