When you are finished reading your newspaper and don’t plan to keep it, thereare several alternatives to simply tossing it in the trash. One such solution is todonate to an organization that can repurpose them. • Animal shelters often use newspaper to line cages. The Humane Society ofNorth Texas collects folded newspapers at the Saxe-Forte Adoption Center, 1840 E.Lancaster Ave., during regular business hours. For other shelters, veterinarians, orkennels please contact to see if they are currently in need. • Schools can use newspapers in educational programs as well as for craft proj-ects. Contact your child’s teacher or principal to ask if they can use them. If theycannot be used in the classroom, the school may have a recycling collectionfundraiser program. • Daycares, after school programs, art studios or similar may also need newspa-pers for arts and crafts. • Nonprofit organizations, such as a charity resale shop or food bank may usenewspapers to wrap fragile items or line shelves. Check the wish list on your pre-ferred organization to see if they can use them.

FORT WORTH ISD

NE W YEARNE W TIMES

This fall, Fort Worth ISD will implement new daily class schedules, joining other districts in aligning with a new state law based on minutes, not days. The extra ten to 15 minutes in class for students adds up to many benefits – both instructionally and operationally.

» Traditional high schools will begin at 8:25 a.m. and end at 3:40 p.m.

» Traditional middle schools will begin at 9:15 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m.

» Traditional elementary schools will begin at 7:50 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.

The District’s Schools of Choice, early college high schools, and other specialty schools will also extend their instructional day but may have different beginning and ending times. See website for exceptions.

We also have a couple ofyoung freshman in Remi Paara and Whitney Thomas. They are a strong addi-tion to our girls team.” Benbrook will compete in district 9-4A this season with fellow Benbrookprogram Western Hills. Rodriguez said her teams have set some lofty expectations for the season, but ones that are well within reach of achieving. “Our goal as a team is to advance to the regional meet and then the statemeet,” Rodriguez said. “Individually, we want to have three of our five teammembers in the top 15. As a whole, we want to get better each week. As acoach, if that is happening, then they will be where they need to be when dis-trict is here.” Benbrook will open the season on Aug. 25 at the Cowtown Challenge atThe Buff in Haltom City.
