THE LIGHTHOUSENewsletter for May 2017

In him was life, and that life was

the light of men. John 1:4

Message from Our Pastor

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Are you looking forward to spring and summer? I sure am. Just recently, as I went out the front door, I saw once again one of those wonderful little purple and white flowers popping threw the ground in the planter box. That always warms my heart and puts a smile on my face, Spring is here!! Then as I was taking the mail to the church, I walked by the last small pile of snow, which I am going to admit did not warm my heart at all. So I promptly picked up a shovel and spread the little pile out in the yard so the sun could take care of the last reminder of winter, just a little faster than it had been. It was both good exercise, and good for the mind because by the afternoon there was no trace of winter left anywhere on the church property!

While activities around the home and family can pick up in the spring and summer, activities around the church usually cut back. This is normal in the life of the church as we get out and enjoy the outdoors and do some traveling during the few months of nice weather that we have up here. Though, one church activity that never takes a summer break, or even slows down, is weekly worship.

Every Sunday, the church will provide a time for worship. Every Sunday someone will be at church to lead worship in word and music and holy meal. Every Sunday we will have the chance to honor God with our worship and to serve our neighbors by adding our presence, and encouraging voice, and friendly smile, and listening ear to the gathering of people who come to share worship with us. Now for some of you I know this is also a time when you have to go back to work, I encourage you to come and talk to me so we can work something out so that you too may get an opportunity to worship.

Our presence at worship matters to God and to those who will gather with us. My prayer is that it will matter enough to us that we will make it a regular part of our spring and summer activities.

May the blessing of warmer weather fill you with gratitude and joy, and lead you to worship!

Yours in Christ,Pastor David
