18 Horseback riding is the main attraction at Camp Misty Meadows, near Conroe. The Robert and Janice McNair Equestrian Center includes four riding arenas and a herd of 40 horses waiting to be ridden, loved, hugged and groomed by campers. Girls going into grades 2-12 can experience different levels of equestrian experiences. In addition to the four-legged attractions, the camp offers a pool, archery range, rifle range and a covered pavilion. Traditional camp activities such as making crafts, hanging out with friends, enjoying nature, going on hikes, cooking outdoors, playing games and making new friends are all part of the fun. Cabins and dormitories are home to girls staying at Camp Misty Meadows. Campers enjoy most meals and get a break from the heat in the air-conditioned comfort of the Wortham Lodge. Horseback riding is the main attraction at Camp Misty Meadows, near Conroe. The Robert and Janice McNair Equestrian Center includes four riding arenas and a herd of 40 horses waiting to be ridden, loved, hugged and groomed by campers. Girls going into grades 2-12 can experience different levels of equestrian experiences.

In addition to the four-legged attractions, the camp offers a pool, archery range, rifle range and a covered pavilion. Traditional camp activities such as making crafts, hanging out with friends, enjoying nature, going on hikes, cooking outdoors, playing games and making new friends are all part of the fun.

Cabins and dormitories are home to girls staying at Camp Misty Meadows. Campers enjoy most meals and get a break from the heat in the air-conditioned comfort of the Wortham Lodge. The lodge also features a stage, activity rooms and a large covered patio.

All AgesNote: When registering for Troop Trek, please write your troop number in the “Buddy” field. Super Families, please use the “add a member” button to register your additional family members who are not registered Girl Scouts, and include ALL family members’ full names in the “buddy” field for each registrant. Please remember, each family is limited to eight registrants due to overnight accommodations.

Troop TrekBring your whole troop to camp this summer! Leaders and girls will enjoy all camp offers. Have fun at the barn loving, hugging and grooming our horses, get artsy at the crafts room, play in the pool, take a trek through the outdoors with hikes and don’t forget about all the silly games. Bring your troop, and we’ll plan it all. This session is for troops only. Participants in this session will stay in cabins. Note that two adult volunteers should attend with each troop. A first-aider is not required. Maximum of 16 girls per troop. Session is Sunday through Thursday.

Super FamiliesLove to camp but don’t want to plan? This session is all about families. Girls will attend camp with their family. Camp staff will provide the activities, food and fun. Spend your days sampling all the activities camp offers, like nature hikes, archery, swimming, crafting and more. This session is for families only. All family participants must register, and all family members are welcome. Participants in this session will stay in cabins. All adults accompanying campers must attend a webinar prior to attending the session. Webinar will be posted online in January for adults to register. Session is Sunday through Thursday.

Week: 3Price: $300 per child, $150 per adultMin./Max.: 6 families/15 families. No more than eight family members per family.

Brownies(Girls going into 2nd and 3rd grade)

Mane EventYou can’t find a better session for Brownies who love horses. Girls will enjoy the basics of riding: grooming, mounting, dismounting and controlling the horse at a walk. Girls in this session will ride twice, weather permitting.

All American GirlsBring your favorite doll with you to camp as you spend the week learning about Kaya, Samantha, Julie, Addie, Kirsten, Kit and more. Girls will work on their Making Games badge while playing games and make crafts from different periods in history, and visit the barn to learn about horses - one of Felicity’s passions. Top off the week with a field trip to the American Girl Store.

Bakin’ BrowniesMix one part sunshine, three parts of laughter, a dash of camp songs and a bunch of new friends to make the most amazing summer. Girls in this session will learn to cook their own meals and desserts, sample outdoor cooking methods and work on the Snacks badge.

Saddle UpThis session is for girls who have ridden a few times and are ready for more. Brush up your skills at Camp Misty Meadows. Enjoy riding in the comfort of the covered arena. Learn more about taking care of a horse, review your riding skills and more.

Pony Tales If you have never ridden before, or it’s been a long time, Pony Tales is a perfect introductory session. Enjoy riding in the comfort of the covered arena. Learn to groom, mount and dismount and control a horse at a walk.

Night OwlsMornings not your thing? Have we got the session for you! Sleep late every morning, and explore camp during the midnight hour while other campers sleep. Enjoy late night swims and hikes, tell stories around the campfire, visit the lodge for late night activities and more. Work on the secret society Polar Bear Patch and earn the Night Owl badge. Campers in this session will stay up until approximately 2 a.m. every night and sleep in until approximately 11 a.m.

Cadettes and Seniors (Girls going into 6th – 10th grades)

Campin’ CowgirlsLove horses and camping? Join us for one of our most popular sessions. Girls will work on their riding and outdoor skills, then put it all to good use on an overnight trail ride, complete with sleeping under the stars! Girls must be able to control their horse at a walk to remain in this session.

Weeks: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 Price: $490 Min./Max.: 6/12

Horse Crazed Are you absolutely crazy about horses? Are you active in the SPURS or STARS programs and able to control a horse at a walk? Then this session is for you. Spend your days learning different ways to ride a horse, take a deep dive into horse ownership and care and then take your equine friends out of the barn for some trail rides. Top off the week with a field trip to Medieval Times in Dallas to see a live horse show.

Top Girl Scout Chefs Do you love to cook? How about exploring new cuisines and locally grown foods? Join us to learn all about cooking basics, and then compete with other teams for the title of Top Girl Scout Chef. Prepare entrees, desserts and much more. Cadettes will work on the New Cuisines badge, while Seniors will work on the Locavore badge.

Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors (Girls going into 6th–12th grades)

SPURS Training Spend the week at camp learning the theories and hands-on skills needed to join the SPURS (Super People Using Riding Skills) program at Camp Misty Meadows. Girls will receive their level one SPURS scarf and be ready to work with the weekend riding program. Girls must have completed the sixth grade and be at least 12 years old by the start of the session.

Super NannyTrained babysitters are always in demand. Learn how to be prepared for your job. Red Cross Babysitting Training teaches you to handle emergencies, prevent accidents and care for children using competent babysitting practices. An introduction to basic first aid skills helps ensure that babysitters are better prepared for any emergency. Test your skills with navigating child care scenarios. Girls will earn the Red Cross Babysitter certificate, and Cadettes will earn the Babysitter badge. Girls must be at least 11 years old by the end of the session. Please bring a baby doll or stuffed animal to practice feeding and diapering.

Home on the Range Spend the night at Camp Misty Meadows before hitting the road to the Texas Hill Country. Girls will work on their riding skills while visiting a dude ranch. Days filled with western entertainment and chuck wagon meals will leave you longing for more nights on the trail.

Horsin’ Around Have you ridden a horse before? Maybe you have and it’s been a long time, or maybe you’ve never been on a horse. Perhaps you’re a horse expert! Join us at camp to work on your personal riding skills whether you’re a beginner, intermediate and advanced rider.

Seniors and Ambassadors (Girls going into 9th–12th grades)

Equestrian AidesWould you love to teach riding skills to younger girls? Are you at least a level three SPUR or have completed STARS? Spend the week at the barn working as an equestrian aide. Girls will earn leadership and service hours. Girls must achieve level three SPUR or completed STARS by January 1, 2018 to be eligible to be an EA. Week 3 is Sunday through Thursday.
