Declarative Sentences
A Declarative Sentence is a sentence that makes a statement.
This type of sentence ends with a period. (.)
Ex.
Alaina got a new iPhone.
Interrogative Sentences
An Interrogative Sentence is a sentence that asks a question
This type of sentence uses a question mark. (?)
Ex.
What new phone case should Alaina get?
Exclamatory Sentences
An Exclamatory Sentence a sentence that shows excitement
This type of sentence ends with an exclamation point. (!)
Ex.
When Alaina’s dad showed her the new case he bought her she screamed, “ OMG Thank You Daddy!”
Imperative Sentences
An Imperative Sentence tells a command.
This type of sentence can end with either an exclamation point or a period.
Ex.
When Alaina broke her new case her dad said, “ Clean it up!”
Simple Sentences
A simple sentence is a sentence is a sentence with one clause.
Ex.
Alaina loved her new cases.
Compound Sentences
A compound sentence includes two independent clauses.
Ex.
Alaina bought a blue cases and a panda case.
Complex Sentences
A Complex Sentence has one independent clause and one subordinate clause.
Ex.
Alaina liked the blue cases, not the panda case.

A Compound- Complex Sentence has two independent clauses and one subordinate clause.

Alaina likes the blue cases and the Hello Kitty case, not the panda case.
