Ex Libris Series

The Ex Libris series is mainly autobio-graphical, reflecting some of my long-time interests: art, music, nature, history, comparative religion, as well as favorite books from my childhood. Books related to the theme of each image form a cen-tral part of the composition. In addition to these books and other relevant items, I am utilizing old family photographs, scanned, printed and cut out, then placed into the composition.

In order to keep the composition simple, I contain it within a rectangular wooden box, whose shape is evoked by my use of a 5x7 pinhole camera oriented vertically.

The alternative printing processes I use include platinum-palladium, cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, and various combina-tion of these processes, some of which are then toned in tea and/or hand-colored.

Dreamtime Series

Dreamtime is a series of still life images which imaginatively blend disparate and/or associated elements to suggest a dreamlike story or idea.

The images are made with a 3-pinhole camera called a Pinhole Blender, which uses three pinholes to expose and blend exposures on 120mm roll film into a col-laged panorama.
