    Angkor Empire was founded in the ninth and thirteenth centuries Since fourteenth century, Khmer have maintained a strong adherence to Theravada Buddhist.

    Theravada Buddhism and a dharma-adhering monarch have been the twin pillars of traditional culture and society since fourteenth century.
