Achievement at HomeCallaway Elementary School is committed to supporting every student. Parents are encouraged to assist in learning at home. Listed below are methods that parents can use to assist their children at home:

1. Communicate with your child regarding their day by asking questions and engaging them.

2. Assist your child with their daily homework in math, reading, and writing.

3. Read with your child nightly for at least 30 minutes.

4. Ask friends and family to encourage your child to read different types of reading

SCHOOL HOURS AND RULES

School doors open at 7:15 a.m. and class starts at 7:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. All late students must be signed in by an Adult. Early check-outs must be done prior to 1:30 p.m. Please ensure that the school has at all times, updated contact/information. School doors will be locked for mandatory security between 7:45 a.m.-3:00 p.m. All transportation changes must be made in writing.

CALLAWAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOCUS AREAS

Callaway Elementary School Administrators and teachers focus by 2023, is to increase fluency and proficiency by 80% in each content area, on the Georgia Milestones and/or Standardized Assessments.

We will meet these goals by:Advancing reading and math fluency and comprehension with 80% accuracy; express thoughts in writing by completing written assignments and inclusion of vocabulary words.

AS A SCHOOL WE WILL:Advance math and reading by 80% accuracy; for grades K-2 we will increase reading fluency by reading AR books daily; implement small group instruction with a concentration on letter and sound identification; express thoughts in writing using sight and vocabulary words; exposure to spelling/vocabulary words by providing students with academic resource books; develop comprehension skills by using reading passages; conduct small group instruction with concentration on missing number and quantity discrimination; write and identify number words from 0-120. For grades 3-5 we will increase word recognition by using flash cards, create differentiated instruction activities to promote increased reading comprehension; and for math, increase critical thinking solving word problems during math instruction, increase multi step word problems, and review of math study guides.
