15 – 17 October 2014, Prague, Czech Republic CALL for PAPERS MLCC is an International Logistics Organization based in Prague, Czech Republic, which vision is to build and/or enhance logistics capabilities, reduce logistics shortfalls and costs by providing multinational solutions. This initiative has been positively appreciated by NATO Members and partners. Till now, twelve NATO and PfP countries have signed MLCC Memorandum of Understanding and became valid members. We expect 4 more nations to join the MLCC this year. Great example of the MLCC activity was Logistics Interoperability and Standardization FieldTraining Exercise Capable Logistician 2013 (CL13), planned and organized by Multinational Logistics Coordination Centre and supported by Slovakia as a Host Nation. This exercise was great demonstration of NATO Nations dedication to support common effort to maintain and develop multinational logistics capabilities together with partners. The main objective of this important logistics event was to test and develop collective solutions for logistics, to assess interoperability of logistics systems, services and equipment and to enhance standardization of procedures in current and future operations and testing Smart Defence logistics projects. CL13 was the largest event of its kind in the last two decades, with 1750 personnel and around 600 pieces of equipment involved. In total, 35 Allies and Partner nations committed personnel and equipment. Capable Logistician Workshop (CL14) builds upon the tremendous success of CL13 and presents another MLCC´s contribution to common effort in the area of Logistics Capabilities Development. CL14 will bring together the international logistic community in order to enhance the preparedness of the next exercise Capable Logistician 2015 (CL15) by providing a wider multinational forum for discussions focused on specific logistic functional areas (FAs).The Military Capabilities that Alliance will need for the coming decade and beyond must be modern and interoperable. One of the ways of thinking how to generate modern defence capabilities is NATO Smart Defence initiative introduced in 2011.It is a renewed culture of cooperation that encourages Allies to cooperate in developing, acquiring and maintaining military capabilities to undertake the Alliance’s essential core tasks agreed in the new NATO strategic concept. That means pooling and sharing capabilities, setting priorities and coordinating efforts better. Capable Logistician 2013 was a clear illustration of the goal that the Alliance set itself at the Chicago Summit in May 2012: “NATO Forces 2020” - modern, tightly connected forces equipped, trained, exercised and commanded, so that they can operate together and with partners in any environment - and the two initiatives arising from it: “connected forces”, which means forces are more effective thanks to better training, enhanced interoperability and exercises involving Allies and Partners; and “smart defence”, which focuses on improving the way NATO develops and acquires its defence capabilities, achieving economies of scale. The Capable Logistician Workshop is a two-day professional workshop divided into four thematic sessions: FF 14 – CL14 Workshop Topics Session A National and international views on future development of logistics and related technologies Session B FA Fuel – MN functional partnership for Fuel Handling Session C FA Water – MN MILENG/LOG partnership for Water production and distribution Session D FA Ammunition – MN partnership for Deployable ammunition storage Other potential areas of logistics to be discussed: - Cooperation: Science – Government – Industry - Maintenance and Recovery - Smart Energy (SE) - Movement and Transportation - Electric power production - Material Handling - JLSG (Joint Logistics Support Group) - Helicopter operations - Movement Control (MovCon) - LOGFAS (LOGREP, ADAMS, CORSOM, EVE) - Infrastructure Engineering for Logistics (IEL) - RSOM (Reception Staging Onward Movement) - Asset Tracking - Logistics Services Capable Logistician Workshop (CL14) – In preparation of exercise Capable Logistician 2015 (CL15) 16 – 17 October 2014 Endorsed by: Under the Auspices of: Technical Partners: In cooperation with: Specialized Partners:
