Timely Access to Care. Enrollees have the rightto receive care and services in a timely manner:access to a routine eye exam within 30 calendardays; access to non-urgent medical needs withinseven days; access to urgent care if the callis received during office hours, and the doctordetermines the need of the member to beurgent, member should be seen within 24 hours;access to a telephone screening when evaluatedto determine the severity of the condition anddisposition of the patient; and access to specialtycare within 14 calendar days from the time theprimary care provider requests the referral.

Enrollees are entitled to language interpreterservices, at no cost. For more information, pleasecontact VSP at (800) 877.7195. For interpreterservices at the time of an appointment, enrolleesshould tell the provider's office that they need aninterpreter when scheduling their appointment.

VSP contracted providers allow full and equalaccess to covered services, including insuredswith disabilities as required under the Federal

Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

VSP continually assesses the doctor network toensure adequate access for members. VSP'saccess standard is one doctor in a 10-mile radiusurban/suburban and one doctor in a 25-mile radiusfor rural. VSP utilizes reports to analyze anddetermine the percentage of members that willhave access to a doctor within a specified distance.VSP runs specific reports to determine if standardsare being met and whether to apply appropriateinterventions when gaps are identified.

VSP Network Providers are offered ongoingCultural Competency education and training.

VSP recredentials doctors within thirty-six (36)months of the prior credentialing date[i] inaccordance with state and federal requirementsand NCQA guidelines.[i] Virginia state regulations require recredentialingwithin 3 years of the day (date) of the priorcredential.
