Juntos Avanzamos - Together We Advance

September 15th marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, the celebration of the culture and traditions that Hispanic and Latino Americans contribute to the US throughout the year.

Credit unions, with their tradition of service, help the underserved build assets toward a more secure economic future. Juntos Avanzamos - Together We Advance - is a designation for credit unions who are committed to serving and empowering unbanked and underbanked Hispanic consumers regardless of immigration status.

Join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and learning more about Juntos Avanzamos!

A Special Beginning...

Juntos Avanzamos was developed by the Cornerstone Credit Union League as a Hispanic outreach program in Texas. Today the Federation is leading the national expansion of Juntos Avanzamos in partnership with the Network of Latino Credit Unions and Professionals (NLCUP), Coopera, the Cornerstone Credit Union League and a growing number of state leagues and associations across the country.

Why It's Important:18% of Hispanics in the US are unbanked and 28% are underbanked

Hispanics are a large and vibrant part of the US economy. The purchasing power of the Hispanic community in the US is projected to reach $1.7 trillion by 2020. At 17% of the population, Hispanics are the largest minority group in the US. Hispanics also make up the largest immigrant population in the US. Serving immigrants is a sustainable business strategy for credit unions and vital to fulfilling our collective goal of helping people of modest means achieve financial independence.
