In the event of illness or other emergency on a Friday night, making you unavailable for a match on Saturday, you must contact the appropriate Head of Sport. Please do not send a message via a third party, do not leave a message on the sports office answering machine and do not send an e-mail.

All pupils are expected to attend teas in school uniform, and to play matches wearing appropriate school games kit.

Parents are warmly invited to watch home matches and to have tea in the Old Gym afterwards. For those parents travelling to away fixtures, there are links to the websites of opposition schools on Perse Post.

Playing Fields at Little AbingtonThese are located 10 minutes south of the School. Take the A1307 over the Gog Magog Hills; cross the A11 and then take the first right. At the roundabout go straight across onto the old Newmarket Road. The turning to the playing fields is on the left just after the Bourn Bridge Road to Little Abington. The postcode for sat nav is CB21 6AN.

General Principles of Fire SafetyThe following guidelines must be followed to prevent a fire occurring on site and to ensure the safety of pupils in the event of emergency evacuation.

• Pupils must familiarise themselves with the fire escape routesfrom the classrooms in which they are taught, to the fire assemblypoint (a plan showing this route is displayed in each room).

• Pupils must familiarise themselves with the fire evacuationprocedure (see below).

• Smoking is not allowed on or around the school site.

• Fire doors are kept closed (i.e. not propped open with bagsor wedges).

• Fire escapes routes and exit doors are kept clear and free fromobstruction (including pupil bags).

• Fire fighting equipment (fire extinguishers, blankets) is freefrom obstruction.

What to do if you discover a fire• Raise the alarm by operating the nearest break glass point

– these are usually found adjacent to fire exits.• Follow the evacuation procedure.• Please note fire fighting equipment is only to be used by

trained members of staff.

What to do if the fire alarms are activated (evacuation procedure)• Leave the building by the nearest safe exit.• Do not stop to collect belongings.• Go to the fire assembly point and line up with your form.• Wait quietly for the roll call to be taken.• Do not re-enter the buildings until instructed to do so.
