It is a day to think about our planet and what we can do to protect it; to think about saving water and energy, reducing pollution, recycling, protecting our animals, trees and plants, and generally getting kids interested in protecting their environment.

Lake 4-H Arts and Crafts Meeting Winter meeting was held on Sunday, February 10th. Noon-3 @ Janesville Fire Hall. Valentines Cupcakes and Canvas – Hearts are our theme! Our projects were to have introduction to acrylic painting, learn how to use chocolate to make cupcake toppers and basic cake decorating techniques. We painted a red cardinal and designed 6 chocolate cupcake toppers. All members and two parents painted a Red Cardinal with a snowy background. The cardinal’s body was made from a heart. The snow in the background was from finger prints. After the paintings were completed, we did a gallery walk to view everyone’s paintings. Each member learned to use warm chocolate to trace heart designs of clear plastic. And many members helped to decorate additional cupcakes which were donated to the Janesville SEMSA team. Despite the snowy wintery weather there was a great turn. Submitted by Christina West-Lucceschi
