This house at 113, A. P. C. Roy Road, Kolkata – 700 009 was built for Raja Ram Mohun
Roy around the year 1814. In 1996 this building was converted into a Museum of
Kolkata Police. Recently 64 files related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and his family
members are kept there by the Government of West Bengal for public viewing.

History of Museum: -- The Calcutta Police Museum came into light on
31st August, 1996. At the time the museum
predominantly showcased arms and ammunitions seized
during the revolutionary movement.
In 2007 the museum renovated under the guidance of the
Indian Museum to present to the visitors a holistic view
of the city police force, development of force, pre and
post independence political upheaval as well as the city
police force today.

(2) Lectures on various subjects
(3) To read all types of files at the reading room.
Sales Counter: -- Books, Magazines, watches, heritage cards, caps etc.
may be purchased through our sales counter
(Memorabilia).
Archives: -- The Archives of The Museum contain the Reference
Books mainly about freedom movements, history of
Kolkata, Kolkata Police old important case diaries of
Detective Department, old files of Special Branch, etc.
To read all these files and case diaries, permission is
required from the higher authority of Kolkata Police.

Gallery on Netaji’s Files: -- On 18.09.2015, 64 files related to Netaji Subhash
Chandra Bose and his family members were kept for
public viewing in a separate Gallery as per order of Govt.
of West Bengal.
Reading room /Computer room: -- In this room all research scholars / visitors can read said
64 files through computers. Xerox hard copies are also
available.
Refreshment: -- There is a well hygienic Cafeteria which is called
“Coffee Ghar” for the refreshment of the visitors.

Kolkata Police Outdoor
Interpretation Centre: -- Kolkata Police Outdoor Interpretation Centre is
inaugurated for the children of our society. They may
learn on Fake Currency Notes, about Sound Pollution,
about Traffic system, security system and also about
communication system of Kolkata Police Force, etc.
