10-Oct-2016 11/82

CICS Exec Interface TraceWith CICS Exec Interface Trace (CEITRACE), users can request information that is more granular for future transactions that run. Users request this information by transaction name or group, region name or group, userid, or terminal. CA SYSVIEW finds all matching transactions, and other correlating transactions, across all CICS regions and all systems in the enterprise.

The user can then access a consolidated list of results. The trace results include the EXEC CICS calls an application makes, such as HANDLE ABEND, LINK, and so on. The EXEC CICS calls can display in chronological order. Or, they can display in summary mode to aid in pinpointing potential problem areas or hotspots.

CEITRACE helps users understand the processing that occurs for an application or business service. It can aid in discovering application flow and understanding problems or pain points in context of an application.

Line Command Assist MenuThe line command assist menu has been added to this release. It displays a list of defined line commands for the current command from which it was invoked and provides:

The command and data row information displays the row of data from the command that invoked the line command assist to provide assistance in context.

The available action and navigation line commands for the current display.

A set of special line commands, which are available for all command displays that contain a line command input field.

For more information see, Line Command Assist (https://docops.ca.com/display/CSPM10 and /Line+Command+Assist) How to View Available Line Commands (https://docops.ca.com/display

Sort Header Line Fields Using Cursor Point-and-Click

The header line identifies the fields (columns) in the command display. You can now use your cursor to sort those fields on the header line.

For commands that have a header line above the columns of data, place the cursor on a field name and press the Enter key. The display sorts by that field. Press Enter the second time on the same field name to switch the sort direction.

Default sort order:

Numeric fields are sorted descending initially when you cursor select their headers.

Page 12: CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - docops.ca.com · CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - 14.1 10-Oct-2016 7/82 Release Notes This section details new features and enhancements

CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - 14.1

10-Oct-2016 12/82

Character, Hex, Date, and Time fields are sorted ascending initially when you cursor select their headers.

Note: When the field displays both Numeric and Character data, the sort is determined by the field type.

Support for New IBM Hardware and SoftwareCA SYSVIEW now supports the following IBM hardware and software versions:

IBM z13 hardwareTo improve the performance of z13 machines, sometimes z/OS does not free the real storage (frame) associated with the page it was backing when the page is freemained. CA SYSVIEW monitoring of real storage has been updated to support the changes that are detailed in IBM APAR OA46291.

Enhancements to Existing FeaturesThis section explains the enhancements that were made to existing product features:

Installation Enhancements (see page 13)Base Product Enhancements (see page 15)JES Enhancements (see page 21)z/OS Enhancements (see page 24)CA DATACOM Enhancements (see page 32)CICS Enhancements (see page 38)IMS Enhancements (see page 59)WebSphere MQ Enhancements (see page 69)CA Roscoe Enhancements (see page 72)Event Capture Enhancements (see page 73)TCP/IP Enhancements (see page 75)Audit Events Enhancements (see page 76)Graphical User Interface (GUI) Enhancements (see page 78)REXX Enhancements (see page 79)Security Enhancements (see page 79)Data Collection Enhancements (see page 80)Removed from Product (see page 81)

Installation EnhancementsSystem Configuration Options Member Location (see page 13)System Configuration Options (see page 14)Product Maintenance (see page 15)Installation Conversion Utilities (see page 15)

The installation process has been enhanced.

System Configuration Options Member LocationBefore CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management 14.1, the system configuration options member was required to be in a data set that was defined to the logical SYS1.PARMLIB concatenation. The SYSVIEW system configuration options member "GSVXGSVX" can now be located in any data set. You are no longer required to be in the logical SYS1.PARMLIB concatenation.

The system configuration options member is read only by CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management server address spaces and utility jobs. The member is not read by individual user sessions.

The server address spaces include:

Page 14: CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - docops.ca.com · CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - 14.1 10-Oct-2016 7/82 Release Notes This section details new features and enhancements

CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - 14.1

10-Oct-2016 14/82

SYSVIEW Main Services Address Space - SYSVIEW

SYSVIEW User Interface Address Space - SYSVUSER

SYSVIEW Auxiliary Services Address Space - SYSVAUX

The data set specified on the new DDname GSVXSCFG references the system configuration options member. The DDname GSVXSCFG must be added to all server address space procedures and utility jobs.

Example:

//GSVXSCFG DD  DISP=SHR,DSN=sysview.CNM4SCFG

As part of migrating to the use of the GSVXSCFG DDname in the server address spaces, it became necessary to add additional security measures. These measures prevent unauthorized users from overriding configuration options. For more information, refer to Security Enhancements (see page 79.)

Notes:

Secure the data set containing the system configuration options member. Give only those users with SYSVIEW administrative authority update access to the data set or member.

Start a SYSVIEW server address space at least once per IPL before initiating any user session. The server address space reads the system configuration options and initializes the system for all user sessions. If a server address space is not started first, one of the following error messages displays if a user attempts to logon through an interface such as: TSO, ISPF, or batch.

GSVX205E Nucleus load failed, 28 system configuration not found. Start SYSVIEW.

GSVX205E Nucleus load failed, 29 subsystem is not initialized. Start SYSVIEW.

System Configuration OptionsSample system configuration option members are found in the SYSVIEW samplib data set sysview.CNM4BSAM for current and previous releases of CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management. The sample members contain all options and full descriptions for each option.Members:

GSVXGSVX for Release 14.1

GSVXR140 for Version 14.0

Profile Set KeywordSET FORMATNEXT formatname

Specifies the name of a command format that is selected on the next command executed

The FORMATNEXT keyword differs from the FORMAT keyword. The FORMATNEXT value is not saved in the profile and it is used only once and then cleared. FORMATNEXT takes precedence over any FORMAT value that is defined in the profile for the command.

Use the set command in any command string. For instance, you can use it as part of an externally defined user command or menu definition. It causes the command that follows it to use a specific format.

Example

Create an externally defined user command to display the “Top I/O rate address spaces”:

DEFINE TOPIO        MINLEN 5        DESC 'Top I/O address spaces'        CMD SET FORMATNEXT IO;ACTIVITY

Invoking the TOPIO externally defined user command causes the ACTIVITY command to display using the IO command format. The IO format moves all I/O related fields to the front of the display and sorts the display by IO/Sec descending.

Field Status EnhancementCommand displays throughout the product include fields that have condition status attributes assigned to them based on threshold and state definitions. The status attribute causes the fields to display using the screen field attributes as specified on the SCREEN command. The SCREEN attributes are stored in the profile of each user.

Before r14.1

Several commands forced a NORMAL status to display using the "DATA" attribute causing blocks of "reverse video green" to not display. This behavior caused the associated status of the field to be set to "NONE", which is inconsistent and incorrect.

Starting with r14.1

If the status of a field that is based on a threshold or state results in a NORMAL status, the field displays using the attributes that are associated with "CONDNORMAL".

The following table is from the command: SCREEN

Name       Type   Intens Color     Hilite     Description                                  CONDNORMAL OUTPUT LOW    GREEN     REVERSE    Normal condition status field   CONDWARNNG OUTPUT LOW    YELLOW    REVERSE    Warning condition status field  CONDPROBLM OUTPUT HIGH   RED       REVERSE    Problem condition status field  DATA       OUTPUT LOW    GREEN     NONE

CICS Data Collection Abnormal Termination and RestartThe SYSVIEW CICS data collector that executes within a CICS address space is a collection of CICS transactions and MVS subtasks. If a CICS data collection task abnormally terminates, the data collector shuts down or terminates for that specific CICS address space.

During the termination process, CA SYSVIEW determines if the data collector is eligible for automatic restart. If restart eligible, the data collector restarts automatically.

The following parameters are maintained from the previous initialization:

Start type: WARM, COLD

SYSVIEW subsystem ID (SSID)

Userid

If the CICS data collector is executing as part of a previous restart request, a second restart is rejected until a CA SYSVIEW for CICS System Data Interval record has been created. The SYSDATA-RECORD scheduler event controls the System Data Interval record creation.

If a system record is processed or created using the scheduler event:

The ability to restart on an unscheduled termination is enabled.

This message is written to the log: GSVC033I (SDCS) Restart on recovery has been reset and enabled.

CICS Exception TransactionsThe CA SYSVIEW for CICS data collector can monitor many CICS resources. Depending on your configuration of the CA SYSVIEW for CICS detail log streams, finding CICS detail records in the log streams can be difficult. Now you can find CICS exception transactions more easily. CA SYSVIEW duplexes a small subset of CICS detail records and sends them to another log stream (the exception log stream) in addition to the primary log stream.

Typically the number of records that are written to the CICS exception log stream is less than that of the transaction log stream. This allows the exception records to be maintained for a longer retention period. Also, the transaction exception records and any other exception records that are associated with the CICS region or transaction are logged to the same log stream.

The ability to review or query exception conditions using the CTRANLOG or XLOG commands is now much faster.

CICS Transaction Options, Cancel, Threshold, and State Definitions

In response to customer feedback, one of the main themes in this release is the simplification of CA SYSVIEW. Many of the items in this release are targeted at making CA SYSVIEW:

Easier to configure

Easier to maintain

Easier to understand

Easier to administer

Easier to navigate

Easier to operate and use

The consolidation of CA SYSVIEW CICS definitions supports these themes and has been designed to simplify the CICS system programmer tasks.

In previous releases, these CICS definitions were maintained separately for each monitored CICS region. The definitions were read from the SYSVIEW parmlib member or from the SYSVIEW Persistent Data Store (DATALIB). Definitions for each monitored CICS region were stored in the persistent data store as a unique element. The number of stored elements in DATALIB could be large depending on the number of monitored CICS regions. The number of stored elements presented some maintenance challenges, particularly for customers with many CICS regions. For this reason, many customers opted to manage these definitions in parmlib members and start the CICS data collector in COLD mode. Although they could have used WARM for the definitions for the rest of CA SYSVIEW.

Starting with this release, several new parmlib members contain a common set of definitions that are used for all monitored CICS regions on a system. The following table shows the old parmlib member names from prior releases where you could have specified an ')IF JOBNAME=cicsjobn' statement to have separate definitions for each CICS region, along with the new parmlib member names that contain the common definitions with a new JOBNAME parameter:

Old New

CICSCNCL CTRANCAN

CICSTHRS CSTATES and CTHRESH

CICSTOPT CTRANOPT

This consolidated set of definitions provides the following benefits:

Reduce the number of definitions you must create and maintain, which saves you time and increases reliability.

Reduce the need to modify CA SYSVIEW definitions as you add or remove CICS regions, transactions, and applications.

Simplify the process of making global definition changes across all the CICS regions in your

Page 41: CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - docops.ca.com · CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - 14.1 10-Oct-2016 7/82 Release Notes This section details new features and enhancements

CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - 14.1

10-Oct-2016 41/82

Simplify the process of making global definition changes across all the CICS regions in your enterprise.

Simplify operations because starting CICS in WARM mode is now more compelling.

Specify the new CICS jobname parameter in the definitions as:

Specific CICS jobname

Generic CICS jobname using wildcard characters

CA SYSVIEW logical group name containing a list of CICS jobnames

You can maintain these definitions in CA SYSVIEW parmlib members or in the SYSVIEW Persistent Data Store (DATALIB). If you primarily maintain these definitions in CA SYSVIEW parmlib members, consider starting the CICS data collector in COLD mode. If you primarily maintain these definitions in DATALIB, consider starting the CICS data collector in WARM mode.

In general, maintaining definitions in DATALIB is preferred. The CA SYSVIEW persistent data store is a mechanism that allows data to be saved and retrieved. The goal of a persistent data store is to provide an environment that allows data objects to be maintained across multiple executions of CA SYSVIEW. The persistent data store maintains definitions that have been modified or added dynamically. Also, definitions in the persistent data store are migrated automatically to future product releases.

To help with consolidating your existing CICS definitions, CA SYSVIEW r14.1 provides conversion utilities in the installation procedures.

Command Description

CDB2TRAN

Displays defined CICS DB2 transaction definitions.

CEITRACE The CEITRACE (CICS EXEC Interface Request Tracing) command allows a user to display and modify definitions that control the monitoring or tracing of CICS EXEC Interface requests.

CICS EXEC Interface trace definitions are used to define the criteria used to determine if the monitoring performed for a CICS transaction should include the recording of EXEC Interface requests.

CA SYSVIEW creates an SMF record for each CICS transaction that is monitored. CICS EXEC Interface requests can be monitored or traced. If monitored, those traced requests are included in the CICS detail transaction record.

Use the CEITRACE command to display and modify definitions that control the monitoring or tracing of CICS EXEC Interface requests. You can create multiple definitions that control which transactions to monitor for CICS EXEC Interface requests. The definitions can be enabled or disabled as needed.

With this new command, comes a new parmlib member CEITRACE. For more information, see the CICS Members (https://docops.ca.com/display/CSPM10/CICS+Members) section. In

CICS_EI_TRACE_MODIFY addition, a new audit event, is added. For more information, see the Audit Event (https://docops.ca.com/display/CSPM10/Audit+Events) section.

CEITLOG The CEITLOG (CICS EXEC Interface trace log) command displays CICS transaction records that have been monitored or traced based on a CICS EXEC Interface trace definition.

Data records stored in an MVS log stream are sequenced or sorted based on the actual time the record was written to the stream. This does not ensure that the records are sorted in a time sequence based on the data and time information that is potentially contained within each record. For this reason, when a user wants to display a specific time period of data, additional records must be read on the front and back end of the read process to ensure that the records that might be out of sequence are included.

CSTATES

CICS State Exception Definitions

The CA SYSVIEW for CICS data collector monitors CICS system and transaction resources. Exception or states alerts can be generated when resource usage exceeds the defined range or limit.

A single set of definitions is used for all monitored CICS regions and resources on a system. The alerting mechanism can trigger any of the following actions:

Write a message to the job log or console

Write a message to the ddname GSVCXLOG

Create an SMF record that can be sent to SMF or written to a SYSVIEW log stream for online viewing

Execute a predefined IMOD (REXX EXEC)

Cancel the transaction

Send an SNMP alert trap

Send an event notification to CA OPS/MVS

Request an Event Capture

The state exception definitions are populated or read initially from the CA SYSVIEW parmlib member CSTATES. Definitions can be maintained and modified using the CA SYSVIEW online command CSTATES. The definitions are saved in the CA SYSVIEW Persistent Data Store (DATALIB). The persistent data store maintains definitions that have been modified or added dynamically. In addition, definitions in the persistent data store are migrated automatically to future product releases. For more information see, .CSTATES (https://docops.ca.com/display/CSPM10/CSTATES)

CTHRESH

CICS Threshold Exception Definitions

The CA SYSVIEW for CICS data collector monitors CICS system and transaction resources. Exception or states alerts can be generated when resource usage exceeds the defined range or limit.

A single set of definitions is used for all monitored CICS regions and resources on a system. The alerting mechanism can trigger any of the following actions:

Write a message to the job log or console

Write a message to the ddname GSVCXLOG

Create an SMF record that can be sent to SMF or written to a SYSVIEW log stream for online viewing

The threshold exception definitions are initially populated or read from the CA SYSVIEW parmlib member CTHRESH. Definitions can be maintained and modified using the CA SYSVIEW online command CTHRESH. The definitions are saved in the CA SYSVIEW Persistent Data Store (DATALIB). The persistent data store maintains definitions that have been modified or added dynamically. In addition, definitions in the persistent data store are migrated automatically to future product releases. For more information, see .CTHRESH (https://docops.ca.com/display/CSPM10/CTHRESH)

CTRANCAN

CICS Transaction Cancellation Definitions

The CA SYSVIEW for CICS data collector performs the following transaction cancellation functions:

Transaction cancellation at CICS shutdown or termination

It is common for CICS shutdown to be delayed due to a conversational transaction waiting on terminal input. You can create a definition to cancel a transaction at shutdown based on the following transaction attributes:

Transaction ID

Jobname

Facility name

Terminal

Transient data queue

Wait reason - Suspend Type

Wait reason - Suspend value

If you create definitions for long-running transactions, CICS can terminate quickly because you are not forced to wait for these transactions to complete.

Transaction Cancellation based on Exception Definitions

You can cancel CICS transactions automatically based on a threshold exception definition. Use the online command CTHRESH to view or modify the Threshold exception definitions.

Transaction cancellation can be overridden or excluded based on the current wait reason of the transaction. If it is determined that the transaction is currently abending, a transaction cancellation is not attempted.

Transaction cancel definitions are initially populated or read from the parmlib member CTRANCAN.

Transaction cancel definitions are initially populated or read from the parmlib member CTRANCAN. Use the online command CTRANCAN to maintain and modify definitions. The definitions are saved in the CA SYSVIEW Persistent Data Store (DATALIB). The persistent data store maintains definitions that have been modified or added dynamically. In addition, definitions in the persistent data store are migrated automatically to future product releases.

A single set of definitions is used for all monitored CICS regions. For more information, see CTRANCAN.(https://docops.ca.com/display/CSPM10/CTRANCAN)

CTRANOPT

The CA SYSVIEW for CICS data collector can monitor every CICS transaction executing in a CICS region. Sometimes you want to alter the monitoring characteristics for transactions. Transaction option definitions allow the monitoring characteristics to be specified.

A single set of definitions is used for all monitored CICS regions and transactions on a system.

A transaction can be defined as:

Specific transaction ID

Generic transaction ID specified using wildcard characters

SYSVIEW logical group containing a list of CICS transaction

The following options can be set:

Specify transactions that are required to be active

Exception processing - Include or Exclude

Transaction statistics - Include or Exclude

Logging of the detailed transaction record to the transaction log stream

Logging of the detailed transaction record to SMF

Sending the detailed transaction record to the MVS dynamic exit GSVX.CICSTRAN

Sending monitored transaction information to CA Cross-Enterprise APM

Suppress CICS SMF 110 records

Specify transaction elapsed time monitoring method

Initially the transaction option definitions are populated or read from the SYSVIEW parmlib member CTRANOPT. You can maintain and modify definitions using the SYSVIEW online command CTRANOPT. The definitions are saved in the CA SYSVIEW Persistent Data Store (DATALIB). The persistent data store maintains definitions that have been modified or added dynamically. In addition, definitions in the persistent data store are migrated automatically to future product releases. For more information, see .CTRANOPT (https://docops.ca.com/display/CSPM10/CTRANOPT)

IMS EnhancementsThe CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management Option for IMS has been enhanced:

Support for IBM SoftwareCA SYSVIEW now supports IMS 14.1.

For a complete list of all supported software, see Supported Software (https://docops.ca.com/display./CSPM10/Supported+Software)

Note: Support for IMS 11.1 has been dropped.

DC Monitor Record ProcessingStarting with IMS 14.1, the ability to collect DC Monitor data is now possible using an IMSMON user exit.

If you are at this level of IMS, and are currently collecting detail transaction data in CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management by setting the following parameters in the IMSLOGR PARMLIB member:

ACTIVATE-DC-MONITOR = YES

PROCESS-DCM-TYPE = x4E:*:SET

Then you also must define the SYSVIEW exit in the IMS DFSDF PROCLIB member.nnn

For example:

*--------------------------------------------------------------------** USER EXITS SECTION                                                 **--------------------------------------------------------------------*<SECTION=USER_EXITS>EXITDEF=(TYPE=IMSMON,         EXITS=(GSVPDCMX))

GSVPDCMX is the exit name provided in the CA SYSVIEW load library and must be accessible to the IMS control region using the standard search order (STEPLIB, LINKLIST, and so on).

Note: Do not code the exit if you:

Do not collect detail transaction data (ACTIVATE-DC-MONITOR is NO)

Are at a level of IMS below 14.1 that does not support the IMSMON user exit

Required Access to New SAF ResourceAs part of migrating to the use of the GSVXSCFG DDname in the server address spaces, it became necessary to add additional security measures. These measures prevent unauthorized users from overriding configuration options. This release now requires that all of the CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management server address spaces have access to the following resource:

ESM SAF Class SAF Entity Access

ACF2 SYSVIEW SV.CREATE.SSID.<smfid>.<ssid> READ

RACF FACILITY SV.CREATE.SSID.<smfid>.<ssid> READ

TSS CAGSVX SV.CREATE.SSID.<smfid>.<ssid> READ

<smfid> is the SMF ID of the system where the server address space is executing.

<ssid> is the Subsystem ID that was specified for the SSID= parameter during installation. The default SSID is GSVX.

Optionally define the SAF Entity as a generic resource in your External Security Manager:

SV.CREATE.SSID.*

The server address spaces include:

SYSVIEW Main Services Address Space (SYSVIEW)

Page 80: CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - docops.ca.com · CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management - 14.1 10-Oct-2016 7/82 Release Notes This section details new features and enhancements
