Project Narrative and Work Sequence:
This drawing set is adapted from plans provided by and developed by Tetra Tech for Kitsap CountyDept. of Public Works and they are intended to demonstrate how the existing CenturyLink facilities will besupported and protected in place during the proposed construction of the bridge carrying SeabeckHolly Road NW over Seabeck Creek. The following is a summary of CenturyLink's intended plan torelocate, support and protect its facilities.
1. It is assumed that the Kitsap County contractor ("contractor") will close Seabeck Holly Road NW andimplement a detour route for the duration of the project.2. Following the roadway closure, CenturyLink will place new handholes on opposite ends of theproposed bridge in which CenturyLink will intercept some existing cables and splice in additional slack toallow the cable to be relocated temporarily to a catenary support system that will remain in placeduring the construction of the bridge.3. CenturyLink will relocate its existing facilities to the north side of the bridge, temporarily supportingthem with Terra Technologies' proprietary Terra Shield support system cantilevered to a position 3-feetfrom the north face of the proposed wing walls.4. CenturyLink will then construct a 105-foot catenary support system as depicted in this plan set and willremove the interim Terra Shield support system.5. Following bridge deck construction and prior to construction of traffic barrier, CenturyLink will provideutility brackets and duct hanger system depicted on Sheet D.2 to be installed by contractor on thedownstream face of the traffic barrier. 6. Prior to opening the roadway to construction, CenturyLink will relocate the supported facilities to theinstalled utility hanger on the downstream face of the traffic barrier, and remove the catenary supportsystem. The piles from the catenary support system will be cut 6" below finished grade and upper portionremoved leaving the embedded section in place.
