   Once  there  lived  a  li6le  red  hen.    She  lived  in  Friendlin,  with  her  friends  Pig,  Dog,    Cat,  and  Duck.  “Who  will  plant  this  wheat  with  me?”  said  hen    “Not  I,”  oinked  Pig.    “Not  I,”  barked  Dog.      “Not  I,’’  meowed  Cat.    

 “Not  I,”  quacked  Duck.    “Ok,  I’ll  do  it  myself.”    The  li6le  red  hen  planted  

it.    A  few  weeks  later  the  wheat  grew  and  it  was  ready  to  harvest.    She  said,”  Who  will  harvest  this  wheat  with  me?”    “Not  I,”  snarled  Pig.    “Not  I,”  whimpered  Dog.    “Not  I,”  mu6ered  Cat.    “Not  I,”  squealed  Duck.  

 “  Ok,  I’ll  do  it  myself.”  So  she  did  it  herself.      she  asked,”  Who  will  take  

this  wheat  with  me  to  the  granary.”    “Not  I.  I  am  too  busy  

playing  in  the  mud,"  snarled  Pig  

 Not  I,”  said  Dog  I  hate  helping  animals  because  they  look  weird,”  barked  Dog  

“Not  I,    “I  hate  gardening  because  I  

don’t  like  dirt  and  I  hate  geNng  dirty,"  meowed  Cat.  

 “What  about  you,  Duck?  Please  help  me,"  said  Hen    “Ok  ,”said  Duck.    “  Thanks,  Duck”  said  Li6le  Red  

Hen.  

The  two  got  flour  for  yellow  cake.    They  mixed  the  flour,  eggs,  milk,  oil,  and  baking  soda.    Then  they  put  it  in  the  oven.    Pig  came  in  from  the  mud  and  sat  next  to  the  oven  and  waited.    Then  Dog  and  Cat  came,  too.    The  Tmer  rang  and  Hen  came  to  pull  the  cake  out  of  the  oven  and  she  saw  them  and  said    “Why  are  you  in  my  house?”  

screamed  Hen.    “We  wanted  cake,”  replied  the  

animals.    “None  of  you  can  have  mine  

and  Ducks  cake"  explained  Hen    “DUCK!”  shouted  the  animals  

“Why  did  you  help,"  asked  Dog    “Because  Hen  asked  nicely,”  

responded  Duck.    “Leave  commanded  Hen.  

Duck  and  Hen  ate  all  the  cake.  Then  Duck  cousin  came  and  tasted  the  cake  and  he  loved  it.  He  called  the  InternaTonal  Cake  Place  and  told  them.    Infact  they  became  the  most  famous  animals  ever,  and  their  friend,  never  had  the  cake.
