Council of Community Clinics: 30+ years of Collaboration
1977 – San Diego Council of Community Clinics (CCC) forms as a service organization for non-profit clinics in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
1979 - CCC Board decides to form a purchasing Co-op to help lower prices on lab and medical supplies. This Co-op is now a nation-wide Group Purchasing Organization: Council Connections.
1993 - CCC forms the Community Clinics Health Network (CCHN) which assists member clinics with their business, clinical and technology needs.
2001 - CCHN receives funding for IT Project that is now known as the Technical Services Organization.
2009 - CC and CCHN continue to build on their partnership to offer a broader scope of services and customer support to members.
What is a Group Purchasing Organization (GPO)?
A GPO is designed specifically to save its members money by negotiating contracted pricing with vendors.
Council Connections is a GPO for organizations that offer health or education services. There are no fees to become a member since fees are collected from vendors, based on sales volume.
“The More We Buy, The More You Save”: Combining the purchasing volume of our members gives us greater negotiating power with our vendors. In 2006, CC joined forces with Premier, Inc, the nation’s largest GPO, to bring greater savings and a broader contract portfolio to its members.
