From Father David... Christ is risen! Indeed, He is risen! In my homily last week, I refer-

enced the Holy Father Pope Francis’s Post-Apostolic Letter to the Church,

Amoris Laetitia [AL]. In ordinary speaking, he has written a letter to all fami-

lies. Marriage and family has always been essential, but it is not news that there

are more stresses and strains today on these relationships.

On this weekend of our Baccalaureate Mass, the following paragraph

from AL gives some spiritual food for thought. Families and parishes have the

responsibility to train young people to listen to the voice of God in their lives.

To discern future career and vocation. To grow in the virtues of the Gospel of

Jesus Christ.

The Gospel goes on to remind us that children are not the property of

a family, but have their own lives to lead. Jesus is a model of obedience to his

earthly parents, placing himself under their charge, but he also shows that

children’s life decisions and their Christian vocation may demand a parting

for the sake of the Kingdom of God. Jesus himself, at twelve years of age, tells

Mary and Joseph that he has a greater mission to accomplish apart from his

earthly family. In this way, he shows the need for other, deeper bonds even

within the family: “My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word

of God and do it” (Luke 8:21). [Amoris Laetitiae]

Dear St. Therese, Thank you everyone from St. Therese Parish for your beautiful generos-ity and financial support of the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House! We are very blessed and grateful for your gift of $400 in memory of Sr. Ei-leen O’Connor. Your contribution will help us continue providing bedding, showers and laundry for those most in need. We hope you have a joy filled Easter!

O Mary, Mother of the Life Within, All life we entrust to you; The life of every expectant mother And the child within her womb: The life of every human body, The life of every hu-man soul; The life of every newborn child And the life of all grown old. You held the Lord to your own heart And drew

Him so close in. So draw us now in all our needs, O Mother of the Life Within. Amen
