SSUUMMMMEERRTTIIMMEE AATT YYOOUURR MMAARRAATTHHOONN CCHHAAMMBBEERR Summer is here! We can feel it from a tourism standpoint, as well as from just walking outside! This is the time of year when
we see visitors primarily from South Florida, mostly via a drive-down market. However, we also begin seeing our European visitors this time of the year using their extended vacation/leavetime to visit Florida and this usually includes stops here in Marathon and the FL Keys. Mid-week gets a bit slow. You are probably noticing we have our roads back, less lines at Publix and lit-tle-to-no waits at local restaurants. Then on weekends things go from zero to sixty, but it’s great as you, our local businesses are working hard and staying busy; which keeps the moniesflowing through our community, locals employed, etc.
Summer is also a great time of year for you to really enjoy where we live. The water-related activities are endless as the winds lie down and really allow us to get out on the water. It’s impor-tant we all get opportunities to do this. We all work so hard and it’s therapeutic, as well as healthy for us to enjoy the fruits of our labor; especially when we happen to live in paradise!
Summer here at your Marathon Chamber also means it’s time to start planning for our Board of Director elections. If you are interested in running for the Chamber’s Board please contact me.It’s a great way to really make a difference in your business community (more info to follow next couple months). We are also planning for our annual Business Awards and InstallationBanquet at Hawks Cay Resort (save the date for October 16th). Lastly, we will begin planning for the 2nd annual Craft Beer & Bubbly Fest, which will take place on December 27th later thisyear. We are always planning as you can see, but as they say; “failing to prepare is preparing to fail”, right?
Have a great, safe, and happy 4th of July everyone; see you all at Sombrero Beach for the amazing Marathon Rotary beach party and City fireworks show. Be sure to contact us for any busi-ness assistance, needs, or services you may need either directly from us or from someone else we can connect you with. Our doors are always open and no request is out of bounds.
Most Respectfully,
