Five Parts of an Assignment 1. Before the students arrive
2. Starting the class
3. During the class
4. Ending the class
5. After the students leave
Before the students arrive � Dress the part
� Arrive early & settle in
� Check with office on protocols
� Read over the lesson plans
� Name & directions on the board
Starting the class � Where’s their teacher?
� Who are you?
� Pronouncing names
� Seating plan
� What they will be learning/doing?
� Make it clear that tasks will be completed
During the Class � Circulate
� Smile!
� Break tasks down
� Let students work
� Avoid TICs (Teacher Initiated Crisis)
� Keep track of students
� Don’t allow students to sleep
� Be very vigilant when monitoring tests
Ending the Class � Allow time for clean up
� Collect student work
� Students’ TOC evaluation as exit slip
� Do not allow students to leave early
After the students leave � TTOC report to teacher
� Personal recording/reflections
� Clean up room
� Return keys to office and thank office staff and others who assisted you

� forgets their lunch

Developing your TTOC Toolkit
� In your group, brainstorm what you would want in your emergency toolkit
� Discuss and decide on 5 essentials
� Record these on the flip chart paper (in whatever creative way you want)
