BUILDING TO THE FUTURE
2018 SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES 1
On September 26th and 27th, 2018, WBE Canada will host our 2018 Annual Conference “Building to the Future” at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. These two action-packed days will bring together a community of 200+ women-owned businesses, corporations, government agencies and regional partners for learning, networking and matchmaking.
We invite you to set yourself apart in 2018 by investing in a sponsorship. This package highlights options that allow us to help you find the most effective way to reach audiences and maximize your visibility and impact. The opportunities are designed to fit your budget and can be further customized to meet a desired level of support and exposure. Whether you are a current member, a certified women-owned business, a partner to WBE Canada or an organization looking to demonstrate your diversity commitment or expand your reach in new markets, we’d love to work with you!
Since 2009 WBE Canada, a Canadian not-for-profit organization, has worked to increase the participation of women-owned businesses in supply chains. We certify that a supplier is at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by women and connect them with buyers in the private and public sectors. Beyond certification WBE Canada delivers education and training programs to build the capacity for successful bidding on procurement contracts.
MESSAGE FROM THE TEAM
2018 SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES 2
SUPPLIER DIVERSITY MAKES GOOD BUSINESS SENSE
Through initiatives like supplier diversity, under-represented suppliers are provided the chance to grow in terms of business acumen, professional development, business connections and bottom line results. These relationships are mutually beneficial in that as these suppliers grow, your procurement organization gains the following:
• greater supply chain competitiveness and service delivery
• increased supply chain resilience
• enhanced organizational reputation and brand equity
• increased product and service sales opportunities in diverse markets
• positive socio-economic development gains in diverse communities
• increased employee satisfaction and retention

THE CASE FOR SUPPORTING WOMEN-OWNED FIRMS
• A 2013 report by RBC states that the aggregate contribution of female majority-owned SMEs was an estimated $148 billion in economic activity.
• In 2011 the Taskforce for Women’s Business Growth stated that a 20% increase in total revenues among majority female-owned enterprises could contribute an additional $2 billion per year to the Canadian economy.
• In 2015 an Industry Canada report revealed some encouraging facts; a doubling of the 20-99 employees majority female-owned SMEs from 3.1% to 6.8% in the 3 years from 2007-2011; and that female-owned SMEs were more innovative than majority male-owned firms.
• Women have higher business survival rates; more plan to grow their business and of those, are more active in hiring new employees than male-owned firms (Global Affairs).
• Nearly 70% of female business owners have a post-secondary degree.
• BUT: Only 16% of all SMEs are majority owned by women and these businesses have revenues of just 50% of their male counterparts.
