Here is the third installment on how to make more money as a personal trainer series. We are going to be talking about the building your dream in-come blueprint. What I want you to think about today is how do you craft and decide what income you want to make from the industry.

It’s not just like "Hi, I want to go out there and hope I’ll make money". Hope isn’t a business strategy; hope is not a marketing strategy. It might work if you are de-

serted on an island somewhere and you need some faith to get you through. But in business, we don’t hope. In business we plan for things.

I want to teach you how to plan to make the income that you want and how you can start mapping it out so you can plan for 6 figures and up!

We’ve got to do some math and understand where it is going to come from and how it’s going to scale out. So I want you to be thinking a little bit right now about what kind of income you want to make. I want you to dream big. I want you to dream about that $100,000 and up. That might not be feasible right away, but that is what I want you to be dreaming about. That’s what we're going to map out here. With this map you can be happy with your num-bers. And marketing implementation will help you make it happen.

We talked about continuity in Episode 2.

We discussed continuity versus selling packages. I also talked about do-ing way with the “ebb and flow, feast and famine” type of thing where you don’t know what’s coming in each month. One month you’re up, one month you’re down. We want to get rid of that stuff. The mission is more money com-ing in every single month on autopilot using an auto billing software that allows you to use systems like Mind-Body Online and similar websites to run auto-pilot systems.

“You should have money coming in

every single month on autopilot.”

I described to you the fact that there are three things that I believe a hybrid studio or trainer should be able to offer to their clients which is private, semi-private and group training.

Those are three things as far as the base model of what we offer; training sessions is the base of what we all offer.

I‘m going to use some easy numbers in order to build this; I believe that pri-vate training should be the least that you try to book out because in semi-private groups, you can create some scale that we talked about, that lever-age what we talked about but let’s just say for the sake of this that you can go out and charge $50 for your private training but we know that an average per-son is going to train twice a week. We are going to be charging $400 per per-son of private training, doing half hours. How many members do we want? This is dollars and cents for members.

Let’s just say you have five members on private training at $400 a month, and then you are bringing in $2,000 a month from private training. Now you can start planning like, "If I want that to be coming in, and I like working some private training, five is going to be my cap of how many I’m going to working out there. I’m charging $50 per half hour that is going to be $400 a month.

I’m going to be making $2,000 a month from this one revenue stream.” Great, let’s keep on scaling up!

Let’s just say that we want to be pulling $4,000 a month from our semi-private training. If we want to be charging about $25 per half hour and we know that the person is training eight times a month – I am going off basic numbers right now, just two sessions a week – what does that come out to?

You can scale this out, maybe you've got people in dif-ferent packages, you can put this in an excel spread-sheet yourself and map this out even bigger. That will mean that we need to have 20 members on semi-private training at $200 per month. That gives us $4,000 per month.

Now, what do you have to do to go out and market, build and grow your business? If I mapped my mis-sion of ten more by doing a referral campaign, what

kind of feeder program do I have? What kind of special team program am I running?

All the different marketing campaigns; that is a topic for another discussion which I will go through in my future blog posts so make sure to fol-low me on social media. Group training is one of my favorite models because it allows for so much scale and the price point is so friendly for most people to be able to jump in. Let’s just say you’re charging $100, just keep it super simple for this; I want to add another $4,000 per month in private training. That means with forty members in our group training program at $100 per month, that gives us our $4,000 per month right there.

Now we are going to build an $8,000 business so you think, if I run a feeder program like a 21-day slim down challenge and I brought people in, after the initial program, if ten people stayed on I need to get to thirty more, awesome! I rerun the campaign, and get a lot of people coming in on the feeder program which we talked about the last, now we’ve got another five to stay on! After that program, we now add 15 more and you just keep on working on your numbers until you start building. Of course there is natu-ral attrition, but that’s why the marketing machine behind all this is the most important thing.

Back end options deliver more

services to your client and bring you

in extra money.

We need to start embracing and loving marketing! Hugging, kissing it on both cheeks, because in it, there’s a difference between all of this running on autopilot and always coming in and this is great. These numbers are great if you are the personal trainer by yourself but if you’re running this as a studio owner, you need to increase these numbers because you’re paying out other people. In order for you to make 6 figures, you have to start scaling this in a whole different level and still keep some basic things here.

There are the three models, the three basic services and things that you can do on a continual basis inside your personal training busi-ness or studio without us getting into online products and online programs. You can keep it super simple right now but I do believe that everybody should have options on the back end. A back end means that something is offered in addition to help increase that customer value optimization, to help make sure you’re getting more out of your clients, more results for them.

I talked about how we as a simple example have used nutrition programs and online coaching as one of our back end ways to deliver more services to our client. We are also getting more and now we see much better results of what they are doing. One of the ways was we incorporated our Shakeology and that’s a nutrition product, and the nutrition is needed every single month. What we knew was that for every person we help get on Shakeology that was going to be $30 extra per month per client.

If we had, as an example, 30 of our members on Shakeology, added on the back end that doesn’t require any more overhead expenses to pay our cus-tomer service and with that we added another $1,500 a month in continuity, and it is just coming from the back end. We did the work once and this still is just coming in after our initial effort. Great, you can say I have something like that. If you don’t have something like that, you need to get it. I don’t care whether you go out there and plug in Advacare, Isogen-ics, BeachBody, any of the ones out there. I’m a firm believer that the Beach-Body is the best one that is out there because it is also a network marketing business and so is Isogenics, Advacare and many others.

I am just looking from the retail side of it, if you as the business owner, are making $30 per person, you get up there, if you’re running the business side of a network marketing business, this number can get 10x crazy like my BeachBody consulting business brings me in $52,000 a month! It is rolling every year because of the team we've built over four years, so this can obviously grow much bigger but I want to keep it super simple for you now.

What I consider these bonus things here, you should always run lit-tle special programs and feeder programs, like one of my go-to ones is my 21-day program. Let’s say that will probably bring in cash once it is not continuity it is not like billing every single month so you just say every month you’re running one 21-day challenge to bring new people and that you can feed into here. Typically, you’re feeding them into your group training.

Once you get them into your group training, you tend to find ways to get them into semi-private and private training, but if you’re running and bring in 20 people on a new $97 program, that might be in addition $1,940, one-time pay-ment. So that starts to put us in it, $13,940 a month because you started to just add this all up and scaled this all up.

Whatever the number you want to be per month, you have to start figuring out what numbers, how many in each one, what you are going to charge for each one, do you have a back end machine, do you have one time offers that are growing that are feeder systems into all this?

Then you can start making your plans about what income you want because it is obviously not with any overhead and expenses but I want you to at least see how you want to build your dream income! You make a plan, you design and build it. It is the only way it is going to get done. Not just trying to get clients and get clients. I want you to believe in your po-tential of what you can do within this industry. I want you to figure out how you’re going to do this.

I want you to think about what you can add to your business right now. Is there something along that value ladder? Can you add some back end? Can you start diversifying and adding group or semi-private training? Can you go and map this thing out?

Take simple action steps right now that you know you can do. You can definitely add a little back end in nutri-tional product and an online challenge; turnkey.

You can start adding group or semi-private training to your current business. You can scale from 60 minute to 30 minutes and now you’re starting to de-sign and build a business in the life of your dreams and that is what it is truly all about.

Think about that. Where do you want things to be? What does your dream business and life look like? There are too many stories out there now within our team, within the people that we work with and ones we coach and men-tor. I started as a trainer in the trenches, three years later and I am making six figures. High six figure and keep on growing and I am skilled and I am lev-eraged and I’ve built out and I’ve moved up from that from that technician to that fitness entrepreneur. So where do you want to be?
