– The approach to deduplication and tracking data and metadata creates great efficiency when moving data between sites

– Both sides are deduplicated independently, but metadata is created using the same approach

– Large groups of identical data can be identified by metadata

– The I/O impact, amount of bandwidth consumed over the WAN, and additional storage capacity needed for remote backups is minimal since only non-duplicate data and metadata is copied between location

– Remote backup process is very efficient, even for a VM’s first remote backup
