Building the right computer for the job: Super budget gaming Yes I know this is a bit of a misnomer, Being super budget and gaming not really compatible with each other. But I was commissioned to get a scalable gaming rig with the lowest initial buy in that would work with the current racing simulators he had and able to grow as needs expanded. Our budget was $900 but lower was better. So there are compromises made and combo deals purchased, but we went way under budget, so win? We had to only build the tower and could skip windows. In the end I chose: CPU Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core $229.99 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-H81-D3 ATX LGA1150 $62.00 Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3- 1866 $79.99 Storage Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" SSD $79.99 Video Card EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB ACX $188.00 Case Thermaltake VM30001W2Z ATX Mid Tower $49.99 Power Supply Corsair 500W ATX12V $54.99 Total: $744.95 At build time I was able to shave this down to $715 with a combo and some rebates. I will just say my client was very pleased with the price point. The cpu is a 4690K so with a watercooler the cpu can get a nice tune up to 4.4 or 4.6 when the need arises. The GTX 760 is a solid card right now, but the client has his eye on a GTX970 when they come down in price a little bit. And the ram can be easily doubled up if the need arises.

Building the right computer for the job: Super budget gaming

Yes I know this is a bit of a misnomer, Being super budget and gaming not really compatible with each other.

In the end I chose:CPUIntel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core$229.99

MotherboardGigabyte GA-H81-D3 ATX LGA1150$62.00

MemoryG.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866$79.99

StorageSamsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" SSD$79.99

Video CardEVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB ACX$188.00

CaseThermaltake VM30001W2Z ATX Mid Tower$49.99

Power SupplyCorsair 500W ATX12V$54.99

Total:$744.95

At build time I was able to shave this down to $715 with a combo and some rebates.I will just say my client was very pleased with the price point.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Thermalkate case at $30 after rebate I was not expecting much of a case but it is well constructed, the only odd thing is the expansion slots on the case have to be snapped off so if your upgrade its never going back.
