• Medically trained and licensed personnel• Only hazardous material team in Henderson County• Administration Chiefs have a combined 75 years of
experience• Community campaigns involving: “Toys for Tots”,
Christmas Parade, “Fill the Boot” for muscular dystrophy and assisting foundations and care providers with their campaigns and drives

The Department of Tourism is funded through the collection of the City’s hotel occupancy tax and is
responsible for enhancing the image of the City as a destination for visitors and increasing tourist traffic to the
City of Athens.

www.AthensTX.org, listing things to do and see, places to eat, where to stay, upcoming events, meeting facilities, special offers, interactive maps, a chat service, and social media connections. The website is mobile for visitors on the go
– Free travel literature on Athens’ attractions, hotels, restaurants, retail shops and art galleries plus tourist maps and coupons
• The department is a one-stop-shop for tourists, planners, travel writers and the media seeking information about Athens
