Roboscooper by WowWee—Put Wall-E to Work for You!

You’ve no doubt heard about Roomba by now. It’s the line of automated vacuum cleaners that can be programmed to clean your house even when you’re not there. There’s one problem with the Roomba though—it’s a vacuum cleaner. It won’t pick up much more than dust and dirt. If you can’t be bothered to clear a path for your Roomba, or just want a cute little anthropomorphized robot to keep you company, WowWee’s Roboscooper will fit the bill!

Capable of lifting one ounce objects and depositing them in his own dump bed, the Roboscooper is marketed as a household assistant. However, running of 6 AAA batteries, the Roboscooper may not be as practical as its makers are claiming (but talking to it is a whole lot more fun that talking to your vacuum. I mean, who can resist those sad puppy dog eyes?)

You can also set the scooper to “whack” mode and watch as he rolls around on his six wheels and belts your flotsam out of his way. (And by “flotsam” I don’t mean the cat!) The robot is fully autonomous but you can choose to use the remote and take control of your electronic minion if you so choose.

However, before you jump on your netbook and order your Roboscooper, you might want to take a look at the price tag. $70 for a robot that can only lift 1 ounce is a little much. On the other hand, if you’re using your scooper for entertainment purposes, it’s more than a bargain at that price.

Jetway JBC600C99-52W—the Nettop Named “Sue”

For all of you who don’t get the Johnny Cash reference in the title, Johnny sings a song called “A Boy Named Sure” about a young fellow whose father gives him a girl’s name to make him tough enough for the hard life ahead. Jetway had a similar approach to naming their latest nettop (the JBC600C99-52W.) It’s not a catchy name and probably

won’t sell many of these boxes which is kind of bad. For an ultra-light PC, this machine is just about perfect.

The box comes equipped with a dual-core Atom D525 processor for speedy performance and (1.8GHz) with an ION2 graphics chipset for further speed and performance enhancement. It also sports gigabit Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi built-in.

Unfortunately, there’s no internal storage what-so-ever on this device. That means you’re going to have to supply your own DDR2 memory to the party. Still, at $270, this little machine may just give you the performance you need without putting the strain on your wallet.

Now if only Jetway could get rid of that tongue-twister of a name . . .

Sony PspGo SmartphoneSources define the device to be somewhere between PSP Go and Samsung Captivate. To shorten things, the yet to be named Sony’s Android based PSP will be a slider which will have game controls instead of the very obvious QWERTY keyboard. Instead of any tiny joystick, the device is said to have a long touch pad for easier controls of your game. The device will of course have the standard PSP buttons and shoulder buttons.

The phone will have a large display which will be around 3.7×4.1 inches in size. It might also have a 5 mega pixel camera with 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU to boost its speed. Sony is still deciding upon the branding of this device. It could be somewhere between Xperia and PlayStation. Sources reveal the phone to be extremely sexy though we can only wait for the real looks of this upcoming Sony machine. But it certainly looks to shape a much better phone than the Aino which ended pretty badly in the end.
