After that, those years

Dear Members & Friends,
The Fancy Dress Party on
the 24.2.2018 was a great
success and lots of
costumes were worn that
night.
On Sunday 13 May,
M o t h e r s D a y a n d
Frühschoppen will be held.
Every mother will receive a
free glass of champagne
and also a prize for

Club is holding its 135th
Anniversary Ball and we
hope to see you there this
year. It’s a special
celebration and lots of fun
being organized to make
this a great weekend to

135ten Geburtstag und
wir hoffen Sie alle
begrüßen zu können an

Es ist schade das

We had some new singers
joining our choir.
Welcome to Patrick
Johnson; Bette Jansen;
Margaret Hafner.
We are still looking for
singers wishing to join our
choir, especially some
more Tenors as we
currently have only 2 left
in our choir. Because of
this, our Conductor,
Maestro Leo, has decided
to draft me in as a Tenor
this year to help out again.
It’s never too late to have
some fun and entertain
others with your singing!
We have started
practicing again on
Tuesday 6 February 2018
from 6.30—9.00pm in the
hall of the German Club.
Don’t forget to book for
our Annual Concert being
held on Sunday 24 June
2018 at 2pm here at the
Club.
It will be a fantastic
concert as always.
Hello Everyone!
What a great Karneval Night
was had on Saturday 24
February 2018.
The Fancy Dress Costumes
that were seen that night
were fantastic. Our Choir
members had a terrific time
and all of them wore great
costumes which they made
themselves.
Our trip to Hobart in June-
July 2018 is taking shape and
everyone is looking forward
to visit the Music Festival of
Voices from the 29 June to
15 July 2018.

The March 25th Treffpunkt event held at 19 Lotus Street Woolloongabba, saw Oleg, Amir and Allan try their hand at axe-throwing. Amir's viking blood came out on this day as he was a the clear winner at axe throwing , with 10 consecutive strikes , Oleg was a distance second with his shortened shovel. Axe throwing looks like it might become a regular activity for Treffpunkt , so stay tuned for more information. The Himmelfart Bus Tour will take place on 15th August (Ekka Showday). Members who are not part of the Treffpunkt are welcome to join us. For Treffpunkt members, our next meeting will be held on Mother's Day at 11:30am with important changes to our financial situation to be considered, therefore we require a significant turnout. To encourage this, all meeting attendees will receive a free beer. Our next planned activity will be a BBQ cooking class at the Morrison Hotel. The date and cost of which will be communicated shortly. And finally our planned Uluru trip is scheduled for October, details of which will be discussed at our next meeting. Schöne Grüße, Allan Watts Secretary

Before we know it, we will be in full Oktoberfest mode. Our bookings are filling fast:

The most colourful night of the year is over – and what a success story it was! It was
full house at BRISBANE KARNEVAL on 24 February at the great hall, Brisbane
German Club.
If you didn’t dress up, you didn’t blend in! Best dressed were nominated by our awards MC Dene Harris in one of three categories: Female, Male and Group (Couple). The crowd was the judge! Prizes included and were not limited to a combined value of a magnificent $1270 between Oktoberfest Brisbane and their official clothing partner Schnucki Dirndl + Lederhosen!!! Thanks so much to our top supporters! WE CRAVE YOUR PRESENTS (and presence) ! No less gratitude goes to our all-time supporters from Cafe Beesting and King of Cakes, as well as ZUM KAISER Restaurant in the Brisbane German Club - thank you so much for your time and effort, Katie, our resident musician Andrew Olszanowski, our in-house sausage catering guest Andy's Kangaroo and Currywurst. Fresh from Germany and with us for the first time with most desirable festival photography was Katja Bartz Photography. A big thank you also goes to Paul Sowa for his magnificent surprise memorabilia about the KDK (Karneval Deutscher Klub) and most importantly the 2018 Brisbane German Club President Monika Kortz for joining us again this year, continuing on your father's great support for German Karneval in Brisbane! At last, a big thank you to the Office of the German Honorary Consul, that has been supporting this German inspired event for the last three years. "Brisbane, Alaaf!" Eure Claudi

“ The Ladies Kaffee ~Klatsch”
Dear Members and Friends
I like to wish everyone a wonderful Easter Holiday, hoping
for your opportunity to enjoy a fantastic weekend with Family and
Friends. In my experience time’s just move far too quickly ~ the first
three month of 2018 are behind us, and many new and exciting
ventures have come to pass. I sincerely hope and wish that my Friends
and Members of our “Brisbane German Club” continue to enjoy good
health ~ Sunshine and much happiness in their daily life.
The Ladies from the monthly Kaffee ~ Klatsch keep on
enjoying our amusing get-togethers and I take great pleasure
announcing the many significant Birthday`s of my dear friends in this
newsletter.
Firstly Trudy Zaklekowsky was celebrating her big 90th on
Sunday 4th of March with a lovely family lunch in her favourite place
the “Brisbane German Club” ~ Next one up is myself ~ this year a
very memorable birthday lunch with my family and friends held in the
Club`s Lounge on the 25th of March. Heidi & Elke Sanders are
rejoicing on their double birthday party on April 1st and 8th ~ after that
our special and long time friend Tina Tasseron is celebrating on the 24th of April ~ and finally we have the Clubs
distinguishing Vice President Ulla Harnisch to memorize her birthday on the May 28th!
I am certain that a good many members join me in wishing these lovely ladies
[which are as well the most diligent volunteer workers within our “Brisbane German Club”] their “Congratulations” ~
and best wishes for many more exciting years in excellent health and much happiness!
Warm regards
In Friendship Gerda Schulz
