How your project could look…
Success stories
Kate used Spacehive to transform a cemetery lodge into an exciting new creative hub for Mile End. As part of the transformation the existing building will be extended to include a new café, gallery and music venue. Shuffle, a local community arts organisation, will be based at the lodge and offer a variety of science, film and creative workshops to local residents.

Park and Slide was the brainchild of the installation artist Luke Jerram. He used Spacehive to crowdfund for a one-day-only, giant waterslide down Bristol’s Park Street. The project was extremely popular with over 65,000 people turning up on the day to watch 360 lucky locals slide down the high street. Over 500 people pledged to make it happen and the event attracted global media coverage.

Wanstead Playground
Sarah used Spacehive to raise funds to revamp her local playground. She is one of a group of parents that make up Wanstead Playground Association. Although nobody in the group had ever crowdfunded before, they gained a lot of local support and quickly hit their target. Delighted, they immediately set up their second Spacehive project to crowdfund a new climbing frame.

Ancoats Dispensary
When Linda heard that the Ancoats Dispensary, a former hospital and Grade II listed building, was going to be demolished she and a local group of residents worked tirelessly to save and restore it. Following a successful Spacehive crowdfunding campaign, and 370 pledges later, the group are now preparing to transform the historic building into an exciting new creative and cultural space for the residents of Manchester.

Top Tips 1. Get your closest supporters to pledge straight away. - The first 10% is always the hardest to raise, get your friends and family to help.
2. Don’t be shy! - You’re not asking for money, you’re asking for help to improve your community.
3. Create a video. - It can be done in just an hour or two, and will make a big difference.
4. Ask for all types of support. - If someone can’t pledge, they may be able to donate stuff, or offer their skills.
5. Organise offline events. - They’ll help you raise money, and get more people involved in your campaign.
