DESCRIPTION

Bringing an intelligent virtual assistant to healthcare This presentation explores the latest in this technological innovation in speech recognition and natural language understanding and its application in the complex busy clinical setting. Combining standard speech recognition with clinical language understanding opens up a whole new opportunity to simplify the human computer interface and relieve clinicians from challenge of learning and using complex electronic medical records allowing them to focus their time where it is best used, on the patient. A recent survey of clinicians revealed that: "80 percent of physicians believe that within five years, virtual assistants will drastically change how they interact and use electronic health records and other healthcare apps, making them more efficient and freeing up time to spend on patients" We have already seen the impact of this technology in our interactions with mobile devices. Siri is a good example of this type of technology in action and in telephone calls to customer service Attendees will develop a full appreciation of speech technology as it stands today and how it is already delivering efficiencies, easing the burden of capturing patient clinical data. Attendees will also gain insights into the latest advances in speech technology that can simplify the human computer interface providing ready access to information and accelerate the adoption of technology and free clinicians to spend more time on patient care.

Intelligent Voice Interactions

• Minimize need to remember “gate commands” & “command order”

• Allow multiple forms of expression and handle ambiguous input

• Allow for more conversational spoken utterances, less utilitarian

• Reduce distance between complex spoken commands and desired outcome or action – finding becomes doing

• Customizable to provide levels of seamless access to any content on device

Is Intelligent Voice a product name? If so, then it needs to be removed, and a generic reference needs to be made
