digital graphics briefTRANSCRIPT
Establish 3 different ideas for either a DVD or Poster for your documentary
Justify your chosen idea and begin to
develop it.
Learning Objectives
DVD cover/ Film Poster
You need to produce 3 ideas for either a DVD cover or poster for your documentary
With each idea you must consider the following;
- establish concept; - select format; - length and nature of content; - consideration of audience - usage; - layout design; - input and manipulation of images; - selection of style and tone; - consideration of limitations and advantages of format; - deadlines; - schedule
How to do this…
A Proposal Presentation Power point
Or
A Popplet page – ranging all the ideas
Include a quick up picture of the layout of your ideas
Concept The concept for my graphic design is a DVD cover for a documentary about Fashion. The DVD is set for first time release and therefore must appeal to the target audience
Format The format I have decided for my poster is Vector format as I feel it gives the best quality image and would be the commonly used format for this type of media. This format is good because the image quality will be great however this means I must use Illustrator to make the DVD cover, and I don’t know this software as well as Photoshop, which will be hard as I’m planning to design my own picture.
Length As my Graphic design is a DVD cover, the length of the picture is going to be 27.5cm x 18.3cm
Target audience The target audience for DVD cover is 15 – 25 year old women as they are the audience who is more likely to be interested in fashion, therefore I will make the design quite youthful, eye catching and appealing, like using feminine colours such as pinks, purples, red and yellows.
Deadline I would like to experiment with illustrating my
own design, however due to the lack of time, I will choose one layout and experiment with
different colours until I choose one that I think is best.
Layout I have considered the theme of the documentary in this design by having a model place in the centre to indicate immediately to the audience what the intention is. I will have the title at the top so the audiences eyes will be attracted to it
Style and tone I want the style of the front cover to be a Rotoscope of a model posing or walking the catwalk, with a tone of bright colours that have irony to it, on the surface bold and happy, but underneath is dark and misleading
Feedback
Give class feedback about your chosen idea, why you have decided to choose it, showing your
idea page and brief mock up.
