Study…

What is the first thing you notice?

Where do you think the women are?

Why are they wearing such bright clothing?

Study the picture…

Why do you think the most of them have their face covered?

Why do you think the women are not looking at the photographer?

My Opinion… The first thing I noticed was the one

lady who was actually looking straight into the camera.

When I first looked at the photo I knew they were at some place that was good or celebrating a happy moment.

I found out that the women were actually at a wedding. That would be the reasoning behind all the bright clothing. People normally wear bright clothes to weddings because it’s a celebrating moment of a new beginning.

My Opinion… The women have their faces

covered up because this photo was taken in India and many cultures including this one believe that women should not show their whole face in public.

The women are probably not looking at the photographer because they didn’t know he was taking the picture or maybe since some of their faces wasn’t covered it would be wrong to get a full view of the face.

Appeal I thought this photograph

has pathos or emotional appeal. Since Mandawa is considered “a land of extremes” it makes you feel sorry for the women because they have to wear so much clothing to keep everything of their body covered.

Does this apply to you?

I think the audience would consist of anyone who cared about other cultures. Mostly women since all the people in this photograph are women but this photo could also catch the eye of anyone else who enjoys culture.

Focus

I think the main focus is the ladies face who is looking directly at the camera. Since everyone else is looking away it grabs your attention.

Composition The majority of the colors

that the women are wearing on their heads are mostly colors like red, yellow and orange. There are only two ladies who are wearing blue coverings and blue and orange are complimentary colors which I think makes that lady looking at the camera stand out the most.
