BRFL teams head into qualifying finals

AFTER an interesting final roundof games the finals five teams havebeen decided for the BRFL 2013.

Eastside will get a week off forfinishing on top of the ladder.

In the qualifying final second-placed Arnhem Crows will play thethird-placed Katherine Camels at6.30pm on Friday night and on Saturdat at 4.45pm in the eliminationfinal fourth-placed Ngukurr Bull-

dogs will play fifth-placed BeswickBears.

Both games will be played at theNitmiluk Oval Katherine Show-grounds.

finished any chance the KalanoBombers (8.5.53) had of playing fi-nals football with a solid perform-ance to finish their minor rounds ona high.

Felshy continued his stellar sea-son with eight goals - well supportedby Leigth Waterbury with four goals,and the rest of the goals were shared

around with a good even spread ofgoal kicker up forward for theCamels.

Jilkminggan and a big crowd turnedup to see the Beswick Bears nearlyupset the Ngukurr team.

Thrills and spills as speedway racers leave carnage

WHAT a fantastic night of racingwe had on Saturday.

There was thrills and spills andeven had a Amcar climb the wallunder the tower, but luckily JasonHillier wasn’t injured in his spectat-ular crash.

I would like to thank the Darwindrivers who came down to supportour local drivers and the spectatorswho came down to witness the skillsof all the drivers on the track.

We even saw some awsomeburnouts, Brandon Flynn, Remmy,Mark Hopkins and Mark Ryan bring-ing his hot little Ford Capri out to puton a great show of burning rubber forthe crowd.

Hope to see them again at ournext meet to put on another greatshow.

The results of the night were SubJuniors first Morgan Cavanaugh, justgetting the edge on little sister JordonCavanaugh second.

These two are just getting fasterand faster every race.

Junior Karts first Jack Hopkins,Danielle Thomson second, Brontee

Cavanaugh third. The sportmanship between these

young kart drivers is brilliant, sokeep it up guys.

Junior Streetstocks seen somefantastic driving from local driverRaymond Thomsen and Darwindriver Lance Carew but in their 15lap feature race saw Lance take fir-stand Raymond second.

The Amcars had a interestingnight.

The first heat saw young TimBretten blow his gearbox and in thefeature race saw Jason drive alongthe wall.

The only person who was left wasDave Bretten - taking first place andthe race was declared.

Bombers well they always put onthe thrills and spills.

The night started with eight cars,first heat Brett thomsen blew his diffand Pink Bitz racing had oil pressure

problems. Holly hit the wall in the second

heat, and Tom Pfenning pulled outwith mechanical problems.

So the 15 lap feature race onlyhad four cars, with some excitingracing from all four drivers.

Darwin driver Jason Bloomfieldshowed he was the best on the nightby taking out first, Colin Menziessecond, Jason Scadden third andFran Mcpherson fourth.

It was good to see the Member forKatherine, Willem Westra vanHolthe, come down.

Once again Murph had some fan-tastic singers to sing the Anthem.

Also great to see Fiona back fromher operation and back down at thespeedway.

A big thankyou to all who workedin the main canteen you did a greatjob feeding and watering the hugecrowd we had.

Congratulations to our raffle win-ner and the winners of the Silver-screen Cafe vouchers for breakfast.
