relative to the US rate Mortality rate for women 50-64 has been trending upward against
US rate Crossed above US rate in early 90s May be trending downward in most recent data, and improving
relative to overall state trends as well Mortality rate for women 65-79 is just now crossing the US rate
line If trend continues, there will be a noticeable mortality disparity in
all three states in 5-10 years Appalachian region is trending upward even more strongly than
state trends
